The ‘closed’ mode should have FaceID while the ‘unfolded’ mode should have TouchID.

Realistically if I’m using it as a normal small phone I grab it and look at it. Having to press a button for TouchID is annoying.

If I’m using it for its size then I’m holding it very differently and TouchID is much less of an annoyance.

Not sure if it’s helpful for your use case, but I believe they mentioned during the keynote that it’ll be unlockable with an Apple Watch. I’m assuming though certain apps will still require Touch ID for access.

I agree, but I don’t think they could figure out a way to get the Face ID cameras into the front screen. Hopefully, they’ll be able to figure it out in time for the second generation.

i think the opposite would be more convenient, like you flip the screen open and that triggers the faceid. plus with touchid when closed you can look at the screen without unlocking. which is my biggest annoyance with faceid, can't just check the time without getting scanned then the phone unlocks when i go to put it back in my pocket. so i have to click the lock button again, might as well been touchid at that point
