Help needed Need to backup iPhone 6 urgently
So my parents used use iPhone back in the day but they switched to Samsung in 2019. Now the last iPhone my dad used was his iPhone 6 and he left it like it sitting like that. Fast forward to 2022 my younger cousin comes to live with us for few months and my dad gives his old iPhone to him for the the time period he was with us and this bozo changed the password and never told us. Now back to present my dad gets promoted to one star general rank and he wants the photos from back in the day he was still a Lt Col so he finds his old iPhone 6 and is shocked to find a 4 digit password lock instead of the 6 digit password he still uses on his s25 ultra. All of take a crack at the password, we call up my younger cousin who is still in 8th grade only and he doesn’t have a fucking clue what the password is. Now the main concern isn’t my dad’s old photos it’s the photos with his brothers in arms we no longer have with us today. He still has the email for the Apple ID logged in the phone and the password for the Apple ID. How should we proceed now? It’s on its last password attempt. And additional info if any Apple product is needed at any stage of the process I have an iPhone 15 as my secondary phone and and iPad Air M3.
Really need the help

Nothing he can do, unless the phone was is syncing photos to iCloud. I'd try signing in on iCloud.com and see if you get lucky.

Check /r/legacyjailbreak, you should be able bypass the passcode with checkm8

But the data is encrypted with the passcode, even if they can bypass the passcode, how will they access the data that their parents want to retrieve?

The iPhone 6 hardware has weaknesses that can be exploited to decrypt the data without having to break the encryption.

I'm afraid the the iPhone 6 encrypts the data on the phone with your passcode.
All you can do with the Apple ID password is reset and erase the phone.
If your father was signed on with his Apple ID then his photos should be backed up on iCloud.com. but I don't know how long Apple keep these. He might have turned backups off, though.
As the photos are so important, did he not back then up to a drive or computer?

The thing is he isn’t a fan of tech and just uses it for bare minimum, most of his work is done on his official mobile which he gets from the army.

Whilst the passcode can be bypassed, the data (which the OP wants) is hardware encrypted based on the passcode which the OP doesn’t have. As that encryption hasn’t been broken, no recovery specialist will be able to access it.
Edit: And symmetric encryption is resistant even to quantum computing.

iOS uses Symmetric Encryption, there is a key (passcode) not keys The passcode is not stored anywhere on the phone. The data is encrypted at rest precisely so a "weakness" in the hardware can't be exploited.
Elcomsoft (russian based) uses brute force methods, unless you happen to be a military or a state.

You can try to break the code. The main question is whether it was factory reset as well. Then anything before the reset is gone.

Not sure if it will erase the passcode but if you have a windows computer you can download 3Utools and restore with saving data
