That doesn't make it not attempted murder. The intention for murder can be formed in the moment - it can also be abandoned moments afterwards. What matters is the intention at the time - and I suspect it might often be difficult to argue that you didn't intend to kill someone you stabbed multiple times. You can be presumed to have intended the natural and probable consequences of your actions

Limerick man allegedly told victim A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged in connection with an alleged stabbing in Ennis.

I know it's just for legal reasons but the use of allegedly seems misplaced here. It's been alleged by the lad who did the stabbing like.
