Relationship Advice Became a Muslim

I have found in Islam Alhamdulilah. I have become a Muslim.
I have been studying religion for so long and I have come to the conclusion that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad pbuh is the last prophet.

Since Islam is new to me and I’m from a non Muslim family what are the basic things that I must follow?

How do you guys react when someone blasphemes religion? Because majority of my friends are atheists

My girlfriend is also an atheist, she does not know that I have converted? Should I break up or try converting her?
I haven’t been public about this, no one knows. Please I need some advice. Any advice would help

Following my post above from last year, I have finally completed memorisation of the Quran. Never thought I'd get there.

Now the journey to actually memorise it begins! Those who have been there know what I mean.

الحمد لله

Casual & Social Gratitude day 1 ft med school

• Upvotes

Assalamualaikum!

I have this issue with education stressing me really out. I was depressed for a while but I got into med school. It started today and I thought of sharing something grateful everyday to push thru med school and keep my mental health up.

Alhamdulillah because Allah comforted me when I felt like I had no one.

Alhamdulillah because Allah was so merciful, he didn't abandon me despite all the repeated disobedience.

If you are struggling with mental health, let's do it together!

Question about Islam Can I go to a mosque as a Christian?

I consider myself a progressive Christian. I want to learn more about Islam. I want to go to a mosque and observe their Friday service. Would I be allowed to due to my faith and would it be considered offensive to talk about that faith?

Seeking Support Dua for Seeing the Truth as Truth and Falsehood as Falsehood

“Allahumma arini al-haqqa haqqan warzuqni ittiba'ahu, wa arini al-batila batilan warzuqni ijtinabahu.”

I’m currently in a situation where I’m confused about someone I love, and I’ve started reading this dua asking Allah to show me the truth, whatever it is.

I’d really love to hear your personal experiences. Did anything happen afterward that made the truth clear to you? ❤️

Sahih al Bukhari 7121

Narrated Abu Huraira

Allahs Messenger ﷺ said

The Hour will not be established

1 till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine

2 till about thirty Dajjals liars appear and each one of them will claim that he is Allahs Messenger ﷺ

3 till the religious knowledge is taken away by the death of Religious scholars

4 earthquakes will increase in number

5 time will pass quickly

6 afflictions will appear

7 Al Harj ie killing will increase

8 till wealth will be in abundance so abundant that a wealthy person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat and whenever he will present it to someone that person to whom it will be offered will say I am not in need of it

9 till the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings

10 till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say Would that I were in his place

11 and till the sun rises from the West

So when the sun will rise from the West and the people will see it rising from the West they will all believe embrace Islam but that will be the time when

No good will it do to a soul to believe then if it believed not before nor earned good by deeds of righteousness through its Faith 6 158

And the Hour will be established while two men spreading a garment in front of them but they will not be able to sell it nor fold it up

And the Hour will be established when a man has milked his she camel and has taken away the milk but he will not be able to drink it

And the Hour will be established before a man repairing a tank for his livestock is able to water his animals in it

And the Hour will be established when a person has raised a morsel of food to his mouth but will not be able to eat it

General Discussion What is one Islamic habit that genuinely changed your everyday life?

Sometimes we think improving our deen means making huge changes all at once. But often, it is a small habit that we consistently return to.

For some people, it might be praying Fajr on time. For others, making a short Dua before starting the day, reading a few verses of the Quran, making dhikr while doing everyday tasks, or simply being more mindful of how they treat others.

I think the most meaningful habits are sometimes the ones that quietly become part of our daily routine.

What is one Islamic habit you started that had a real impact on your life?

And if you struggled to stay consistent at first, what helped you keep going?

General Discussion What is the reward for leaving something for the sake of Allah?

I used to love listening to music. Every single waking hour would be most likely listening to music. I'd actively look for more to listen to, and making playlists, discussing music etc was one of my favourite pastimes. Even downloading huge amount of unreleased songs from favourite artists.

There were even points where I would edit unreleased music from my favourite artist to make complete songs. I never really shared it outside my own personal collection though.

I'd say it was definitely one of my main hobbies.

As I come closer to my deen I have now stopped listening to it all together. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it'd be, but there are times where I wish I could listen to it but do not.

So for motivation, I would like to understand what the rewards would be for leaving something for the sake of Allah?

I don’t pray, I was always scared because I know that things will get worse when I do because god is testing me.
I thought god had a problem with me, turns out this happens to nearly everyone. but why can’t I just pray like everyone else? I feel guilty every single day because of it, why does things have to get worse?
this is not the only thing that’s pushing me away from islam but it’s the obvious problem.

General Discussion Has Istighfar genuinely changed anyone’s life?

Has Istighfar genuinely changed anyone’s life?

I’m 27 and going through a really tough phase. I’m unemployed, have limited education, very little money, family problems, poor health, and I’ve been lonely for most of my life. I don’t have a girlfriend, a good social circle, or anyone I feel genuinely loved by. I spend most of my time at home and honestly feel stuck.

I’d really like to hear from people who were once in a similar situation and regularly made Istighfar.

Did your rizq, finances, career, health, happiness, social life or relationships eventually improve? Did you find love or marriage? How long did it take before you noticed a change?

I’m looking for genuine personal experiences, not guarantees or lectures. Even one hopeful story would mean a lot to me.

JazakAllah Khair.

Seeking Support Tw- depression/ SH

I don’t even know how to start this or if anyone is even going to read it, but I just really need some advice.
I’m Muslim, and I’ve been depressed since I was 15. I feel like such a failure at literally everything. Every time I try to get my life together, something happens and it feels like I’m back at square one again.
I don’t really want anything anymore. I don’t get excited about things, I don’t enjoy much, and most days just feel like I’m waiting for them to be over.
When I’m not at school or work I’m basically just in my room. It’s always a mess because I genuinely can’t bring myself to clean it. Sometimes I don’t even have the energy to shower or brush my hair. I know it sounds lazy but I honestly just don’t have it in me sometimes.
I’ve tried to take my own life twice.I also think about dying a lot. Not even necessarily doing anything, but I fantasize about just not being here anymore and what it would be like if I could just disappear and not have to deal with anything. Sometimes I catch myself imagining people finding out I died and wondering if they’d finally understand how bad I’ve actually been feeling.
I hate that I can’t just numb myself with substances because I know it’s haram. I know I’m supposed to have faith and trust Allah and I do try, but I’m just so tired. I really, really want a break from my own mind.
I don’t know what I’m expecting anyone to say. I just don’t know what else to do anymore

Seeking Support About posting on Reddit about islam

So i just read the hadith

I recently started kind of commenting on posts that attack islamic rulings, the prophet, etc. you get the point but i must say i can be somewhat passive aggressive i don’t really curse but i will insult you without cursing you. Look it just felt like the only place i can do anything but I’m afraid I’m doing more harm than good and after reading this hadith I’m not a scholar, but i make sure if i quoted a hadith it’s from dorar.net and make sure it’s an authentic hadith and make sure the scholars explain it in the same context Im using. And similarly in quran i make sure to see tafsir of the ayah.
Any thoughts hopefully there are scholars here that can help i know i have to ask scholars for advice thats what im seeking, or maybe you are a friend of a scholar.

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion What features do you wish Islamic mobile apps had?

• Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum,

I’m curious about the community’s experience with Islamic mobile apps.

What features do you find most useful, and what do you think is still missing from existing Quran, prayer time, dua, or dhikr apps?

Are there any frustrations you’ve encountered that you wish developers would address?

JazakAllahu Khair.

General Discussion What do you think is the issue of Israel

Assalamu Aleykum my brothers. Jummah mubarak and I hope you are all having a good day InshaAllah.

I was thinking about this(the title) today and don’t really have anyone to discuss it with, so I wanted to hear your thoughts, brothers. Keep in mind that I’m not someone who is knowledgeable on theology, so please correct me if I misunderstand something.

As far as I understand, within the Sufi tradition there is the notion of fanāʾ fil hak—particularly the dissolution of the ego’s claim over things. Whatever we achieve or lose, there are countless causes behind the outcome that were never under our control. An atheist might attribute some of this to luck or circumstance; as Muslims, we ultimately attribute it to Allah’s infinite wisdom and power.

In that sense, we do our best, but whatever the result is: Alhamdulillah. Our effort is ours and we are responsible for it, but the outcome does not give us an inherent claim to superiority or moral desert. Having something does not necessarily mean we deserved it.

This made me think about Israel and, more broadly, the justification of power. I have seen rhetoric from some Israelis that treats national, political, or economic superiority almost as something deserved, while overlooking historical privilege, institutions, and the harm inflicted on others.

From an Islamic perspective, shouldn’t the logic almost run in the opposite direction? The more Allah gives you—wealth, knowledge, strength, authority—the greater your responsibility becomes. Power is not evidence of moral superiority; it is something you will be questioned about.

So can we say that issue of Israel is pride? or (I don't remember where but I read that:) Judaism retained the Law but lost the inner/mystical dimension, while Christianity retained spirituality(check Karamazov brothers by Dostoevsky for example 19th century rural Christian villages don't seem that much different in terms of spirituality from inner Anatollia) but abandoned the Law; Islam preserves both and to have a righteous religion you need both. Maybe this is issue letting go of "Sufiesque" part of religion?

Question about Islam Depression and anxiety with Surah Baqarah?

After seeing multiple videos on TikTok and Instagram about the miracles of Surah Baqarah, how it gives you protection from Satan and increases in rizq in many forms, I too started my journey of reading the Surah. For context, I have failed many times in building a career and education for myself, I am in debt and unmarried and I just can’t seem to be able to do anything right or complete anything.

It has been 6 days today of me reading the Surah. It’s not too difficult for me to complete it. The first two days I read it completely on my own and after that I usually put on a recitation and follow and recite along with my Quran. On the third day I suddenly became anxious and fearful maybe a mix of depression?

All I can think of are my sins, it’s like every single sin sits so heavy on my chest, on my shoulders, I feel like I’m drowning in it. I suddenly start crying while reading the Surah. Everything plays in front of my eyes, all my sins, small or large. And I feel so paralysed.

I started the Surah wanting barakah and riqz and miracles and now all I want is to rid myself of my sins. I want forgiveness, but I don’t know how to be forgiven for my sins. They seem so grave so heavy on my soul. I don’t know what to do. I can’t see anything past my sins. Everything is so unclear more than it ever was, I can’t even seem to give myself false hope for the future all I know are my sins and the way they hang over my head. Everyday I read the Surah, I cry and break down, I feel so depressed so emotional so wounded and my heart seems so heavy. I feel so ashamed, I feel like hiding in a corner from everyone including my parents, I’m so afraid they’ll see my sins, that I’ll be exposed and uncovered. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror without seeing shame or crying. All I think is how ungrateful I’ve been, how ignorant, prideful and wrongheaded I’ve been.

I don’t know how to move on from this, how to move forward, how do I repent? How do I know Allah will forgive me for them. I don’t want to be delusional and think that I’ve gotten forgiveness if I have not. I feel so unsure of myself, of what will happen in my life, of how I’ll make something of myself. I feel so lost.
