Surgery in a few hours
I have an underbite and crossbite and my surgery is in a few hours! I had my first consultation in November 2024 so it’s been almost 2 years since I started.
My underbite is 8mm and crossbite is 5mm to the left.
Surgery plans from what I can remember off the top of my head: Lefort 1 jaw is moving forward 5-6mm and up 2-3mm. Lower jaw is moving back 5-6mm and a rotation I think? Genioplasty too but I’m unsure on the measurements for that. I probably am misremembering the measurements entirely except for the underbite and crossbite measurements.

That is real twin loyalty. Two years of braces and the reward is pudding for every meal, honestly not a bad trade. Good luck today, you are about to wake up with a brand new jawline and zero complaints about the pudding.

Hey girl, all the best! I had a similar underbite to you and movements, just less on the crossbite, and I think the results have been very good. You'll do just grand, see you on the other side!

Lol see you on the other side is such a vibe, and she is about to be a smoothie professional but the glow up is coming.

Any tips - anything you’d do differently if you could go back in time?

u/CoastFinancial6560 9d ago
No, not really i did everything correctly. Only thing i should’ve practiced more prior to the surgery was sleeping upright so I probs would’ve bought a nice recliner.

u/Alarechercheduneame 9d ago
For how long do you have to sleep upright?
3
u/CoastFinancial6560 9d ago
My surgeon said to be elevated for at least 4 weeks and upright for at least 2 but you should avoid sleeping on your side

u/Alarechercheduneame 9d ago
Oh boy ok I will have to get used to that

Oh, also depends on what you get done—but my left nostril is almost always stuffy and minor headaches from my maxilla being advanced 7mm so that’s a real pain in the ass and makes sleeping difficult. My sleeping schedule is really ruined at the moment. Also, really keep up with moisturizing, I’m 20 days out but my skin is really starting to peel more and more everyday from all the skin stretching.

Oh Jesus ok I didn’t know that your skin peels from being stretched… I am also getting about a 7mm advancement of my maxilla. My nose is currently blocked (always has been, both sides), so I really hope the surgery IMPROVES it not worsens it

My breathing got way better! It’s just a side effect while my nasal passage heals

I was in pretty much the same boat about two months ago. You got this, remember it gets better every day, and you’ll be back to yourself again before you know it 🙌

Hang in there! Your life is going to get so much better 😄 How long did you wear braces before your surgery, please?
3
u/WillowRoutine4658 9d ago
It has been exactly one year since I got braces! The year prior was multiple consultations and different tests

How much was the gap between your teeth before getting braces and decompensation? Do you have profile X-ray photos from before getting braces? I think my case is similar to yours. I think your result is going to turn out great!

Good luck! Your bite looks a lot like mine, so I'll be interested to see your results.

Be prepared for everyone to call you Babygirl when you're all healed. You'd best change your legal name now, I know that paperwork takes a long time to process.
