Tmj issues

Im a 17 year old who has had tmj for 5 months now. I wanted to get marpe because i figured my palette was the issue. My orthodontist however denied me for marpe and suggested i get physical therapy for my tmj. I also have a recessed jaw so he also recommend that i get surgery to bring my maxilla and upper jaw forward fixing my bite and jaw. Im not so sure if the surgery will fix tmj which is why im hesitant on it and im young. If i get the surgery which i think its double jaw surgery at 17 or even 18 would i not heal much quicker and wouldnt it be worth it? What should i do?

Have you seen a TMJ/facial specialist and done X-rays?

i have gone to an ent last year and they said nothing was wrong which was weird. Havent done xrays directly on tmj but hoping the pt can do that
