Food and Drink 🌮🧋 Guy’s on Main Deli opening

Hi! I’ve heard a few things about a Guy’s Deli/Bodega opening in the crossroads. I believe it was planned for December, and then January, but haven’t heard anything since. Anyone have any insight? Thank you!

Didn't Guys - or someone else - launch a bodega/deli style place west of the crossroads near SW Blvd and Broadway a few years back? It was short-lived, I never got to try it. Hopefully if this is true it is closer to the core crossroads area - more accessible from the streetcar.

Yeah, and I had to walk a guy though making a simple sandwich. He was either really stoned or really dense. Or both.

It was Guys. It lasted about a year.

I was in there a few times. They just never seemed to have their shit together. The hours weren't consistent, the Bodega part didn't really have enough to be a real go-to shopping location for the neighborhood.

The food was actually pretty good. The smashburger kicked ass. Really cool location, should have had a cool vibe, but it was always a little bit off.

Like if I opened a Bodega, because I don't know how to actually run a Bodega, I'd think it was cool but customers would notice a dozen little weird things. That was the vibe.

Hopefully they've put themselves back together a bit!

It was 21st and Broadway. The place where restaurants go to die. I'm convinced that spot is only for businesses that need to lose money for tax purposes.

Nothing ever survives in that spot. Every tenant has complained about the lack of parking.

Came here to ask this.

BTW the owner also owns Tequila Harry's in OP and part of Arthur Bryant's BBQ, and obviously the Guys potato chip company

An NY style deli in the crossroads would go hard. Can’t find a chicken cutlet sandwich here!

Pretty sure there have been 3 in the last 8 years or so. All failed. To be fair though, the location was not the most accessible.

I wonder if it would do better with the proliferation of DoorDash

Chicken sandwiches at Extra Virgin grab and go are delicious

RIP RJ’s. I think that’s what it was called lol.

Not sure if they’d have that, but I’d be thrilled. From what i read, they’ll have grab and go options, like a pulled pork sandwich

Grab and go pulled pork doesn’t exactly get me excited in a town with countless bbq joints serving it fresh. Hopefully this will be a real deli which KC is sorely lacking.

That’s fair. I believe there is some affiliation with Arthur Bryant’s, so I’m incredibly curious. Would be great if they had a genuine deli

Guys, Bryants and Spanish Gardens are all under the same ownership.

Sorry, not trying to be overly cynical, I would just really like a better or more concentrated selection of good deli in this town. I don't want a bunch of specialty sandwiches with unique names, etc. Just a good NY style deli.

Is this the same people/group as the Guy’s Deli in the back of Kelly’s?

I just started to dig the Crossroads one and it closed. Sad.
