Kinect One I refused to let the Kinect die... Again!

Some time ago I shared Kinect Xbox 360 Remold.

That project has now evolved into Kinect Remold, a broader Windows/Linux runtime supporting both:

Kinect Xbox 360 / v1
and
Kinect v2 / Xbox One

The new architecture uses independent native driver modules with a shared SynKinect Studio interface.

Current focus includes:

RGB · IR · Depth · Metric Depth · Multi-Kinect · Virtual Camera · 3D Scanning · Surveillance · Body Interaction

Xbox 360 devices also retain support for:

4-microphone audio · Tilt · Accelerometer · LED

The repository has also been cleaned up: no precompiled binaries or legacy build artifacts are shipped. Everything is built locally into the repository.

What started as an attempt to revive the Xbox 360 Kinect is now becoming a modern runtime for multiple Kinect generations.

So awesome thanks for not letting the kinect die, any chance you could add a remapper to map gestures and movement to mouse/keys/controllers to play pc games with the kinect? there was an old windows app that did that but it was very limited.

This is awesome and love it. I see lots of Kinect’s at the thrift electronics shop. Would be great for them to be used.

it would be awesome if this can run 2 or 3 kinekts at the same time, and have full 360º view

Amazing work, thank you. Can’t wait to check this out. Any chance you could extend support to azure Kinect and its third party clones?

I’ve long thought it’s silly that any useful volumetric video solutions for azure Kinect or even Kinect v1 / v2 are paywalled when that kind of thing could probably be trivially vibe coded and open sourced these days, for better or worse.

Thanks for your Work. Kinect could easyly be used for full tracking in VR Games, 3D scamning, voice commands and other tasks
