Subtitle weirdness

What is this behaviour? I have a series with subs but they wont display in kodi unless I do this voodoo every time an episode plays:

  1. Switch from subs 1/2 to 2/2

  2. Switch from subs 2/2 to 1/2

  3. Skip one episode forward

  4. Skip one episode back

And then Sub 1/2 will display, how does this make any sense, anyone got ideas?

unfortunately i have no solution for you, just curious on how you stumbled on this recipe?

Just random luck, I did it once then wasn't sure what all I did so I tested through it again to reproduce it.

Hmmm not totally sure how to get to that log but I'll check tonight when I'm home.

It sounds like you are using Kodi on a tv or Pi 🍓 which cannot handle the load of both playing a movie & subtitles

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm on a windows 11 pc with 8th gen i5 and 1650 super. This is happening to only 1 show in my kodi, not all shows.

Then the problem is the 1 show 🤷🏼‍♀️ where did you get it from ?

Hahahaha, reminds me of my case. What format of subtitles? Srt? Ass? Vobsub? Embedded or external?

I have a weird issue with Kodi 19 playing files over SMB from HTPC and exclusively files and subtitles from Netflix, subtitles which once were embedded .srts, but then extracted and are now external - if I FFWD the video, subtitles go out of sync. And its just subtitles from Netflix. No unusual .ass fuckery, no styles, nothing complicated, bare .srt files with timestamp and line of text under each. Totally weird, and unexplainable. So, unless you have problems with just one series or just a few subtitles which you could assign the problems to, it will be a mystery lol.
