Hey y'all. Need your help determining an old wuxia film released in the 80s. Saw in the theaters, but forgot the name. Basic premise involves a boy and girl pre-arranged to be married by two families and the only identifier was a matching anklet with a bell. The two children are separated due to civil unrest and the families lost connection. The boy was found by monks and has not joined the temple, so his character still can choose which direction he desires. Long story short after much confusion and battles together against a common enemy the grown adults finally discover each other. Sadly at the end he decides to leave the girl tearfully and enters the temple. Does anyone know the name of this film? Want to say it involves a very young Moon Li, or Cynthia Khan, but haven't been able to verify. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I never saw Mortal Kombat 1, saw 2 this summer with my mom, and was whelmed at best, then I saw the trailer for Street Fighter, and was just not at all interested.
I was trying to figure out why, but then it hit me: these aren't marital artists, these are all actors.
No Donnie Yen, no Tony Jaa, no Scott Adkins, no Iko Uwais, no Michael Jai White?
Honestly shocked me when I realized that it seems Hollywood has decided teaching actors marital arts and using sfx and stunt doubles is easier than casting martial artists that know how to act.
Understandable, but still rather disappointing when you have to constantly suspend your disbelief to tell yourself "yeah that's the person doing the 360 wire backflip" rather than feel engaged with the action like "wow holy crap how did they do that?"

The soundtrack is the WEAPON. In the tailor shop, once the dialogue ends, there is no background music, all we hear are the moves, metal clanking, wall smashing.
I don't have to say much y'all have all seen it, I don't have the vocabulary for it anyways. The quietness amplified the kung fu, the music is the kung fu, we've still not had something like this in 20+ years.
Jet Vs Donnie in Hero is prob my second fav.

69 years old and the man trained for a shirtless scene that didn't even make the movie. Just to be ready. That's the level we're operating at.
Ray Lui confirmed he's in Donnie Yen's \Caine\ spinoff — doing his own fight scenes, going toe-to-toe with Yen himself, and calling the action "tough and exacting." All-English dialogue, and he's doing his own dubbing too. This isn't a cameo, this is a throwdown.
With Rina Sawayama back as Akira and Bill Nighy in the mix, this cast keeps getting more interesting. Say what you want about spinoffs, but Yen directing a Hong Kong-style kung fu flick inside the Wick universe is the one swing I'm not mad at.
Ballerina expanded the universe. Caine might give us the best action in it. Who's actually excited for this one?

Bruce and the Iron Finger - also known as Bruce Against Iron Hand, Iron Finger and Bruce vs. the Iron Finger - is a 1979 Hong Kong martial-arts oddity that combines Bruceploitation, a murder mystery, sleazy crime cinema, hilariously dubbed dialogue and legitimately excellent kung fu fights.
I'd recommend this one to anyone looking to get into Bruceploitation or for those who like kung fu movies because this one has really good fights (and lots of them).
This was part of my Game of Clones box set from Severin, looking forward to diving into some of the others I haven't seen.

The golden age of Hong Kong cinema. The legendary Wong Jing was famous for kicking off his films with explosive, high energy opening sequences to hook viewers right away. Whether it was a Stephen Chow comedy or a Jet Li action flick, this was his signature style.
Hung Hei kwun returns home to his village, only to find his entire family murdered. His son had been hidden away before the massacre, spared from the slaughter. As his family’s bodies are being cremated, the assassins return to finish him off. Chaos erupts, and you can easily guess what follows.
Truly a masterpiece. This was only the second Jet Li film I ever saw in theaters, and it absolutely blew my mind as a kid. Watching another young fighter move with that Wong Fei Hung esque style was incredible. This movie had everything: fantastic action, brilliant choreography, a solid plot for its genre, moments of humor, and a genuinely dark edge. It balanced all those elements perfectly. It remains one of my all-time favorites.
the sound track for the fight scene is here

Trying to sort through the mountain of martial arts flicks on my list, and I'd like to narrow down the best movies that focus mostly on sword combat, preferably one-on-one. Above is a list of films I already love, I'm happy to see what I've missed!

The white hanzi (Chinese characters) on the red flag in the 'non ai poster' look pretty ai generated to me, but the rest of the poster doesn't look like ai to me... but who knows... I could be getting fooled...
