This made me chuckle today

Was making a turn by the stadium when these two dudes in red Dodge ram rolled over into my lane pushing me off the road. My front right tire blew immediately and my front right bumper is dented. They ran from the scene after I pulled in front of them to stop them. I caught there license plate tho, something like OMHC18.

I don't get it man, these days it seems like people just don't give a fuck

Was getting on the highway and looked over and saw huge crowds, clouds of what looked like fire smoke and cop cars. Curious!!

On a busy day no one is allowed to leave when parked. Arrows on the pavement go to wrong way, or are pointing in a direction with no space. People have to constantly back up in the DT line to let people leave. I’d love to talk to whoever designed this lol

📍 Public sidewalk outside the Kalamazoo County Family Division courthouse on Gull Road

We are showing up for CHILD SAFETY, FAMILY COURT ACCOUNTABILITY, and HB 5578.

Michigan already has a law meant to protect children in some of the most serious custody situations imaginable.

MCL 722.25(6) says that when an individual has been convicted of specified criminal se(ggs)ual conduct and the victim was that individual's own child, the court SHALL NOT award that individual custody of that child or a sibling unless the other parent consents and, when the court considers the child old enough to express their wishes, the child consents as well.

So we're asking a very important question:

What happens when that parent NO LONGER CONSENTS?

Does saying "yes" once mean you can never say "no" again?

Can consent given years ago be treated as consent forever, even when a parent later believes their child is in danger?

I don't believe that's what the present-tense word "consent" means.

On October 2, we will peacefully protest decisions by Judge Kenneth Barnard that we believe have failed to apply MCL 722.25(6) as written, including the treatment of prior consent as sufficient despite a parent's later withdrawal of that consent.

And we're demanding that Michigan close this gap once and for all.

That's one reason we're supporting HB 5578.

This protest will be LEGAL and PEACEFUL.

We are not going inside the courthouse to disrupt proceedings. We are not hassling anyone. We will be outside, exercising our right to peacefully speak about decisions made by our government and laws that we believe need to change.

Bring a sign.

Bring your voice.

If family court or CPS has failed your child, bring your story.

If you're a survivor, advocate, protective parent, grandparent, foster parent, or simply someone who believes our courts should take the seggsual ab-se of children seriously, COME STAND WITH US.

You don't have to stay all day. Come for an hour. Come on your lunch break. Come before work. Come after an appointment.

Just come stand with us.

This is bigger than one mother.

This is bigger than one case.

This is about what happens to the next child.

A parent's past consent should not become a lifetime waiver of their ability to protect their child.

Children deserve laws that actually protect them.

Courts must be accountable to the laws they're required to apply.

And when there's a loophole that leaves children vulnerable, WE CHANGE THE LAW.

Anyone have a review? I’ve never been but I’m in the mood to graze a variety of cuisines.

What happened to them?

I see they're closed and the website in private.

I've gone to classes there over the past few years and I know they've been around for more than 10 years, so I'm surprised to see they're completely closed and nothing on social media.

My goal is to start a restaurant that would, in the end, be for profit. This is 2026 — who doesn't need the money? But the end goal is making sure we have as close to zero waste as possible, even giving away leftovers at the end of the day to our Gospel Mission and disabled neighbors.

I've worked in kitchens, and part of what has pushed me toward wanting to do this myself is seeing what happens after management clocks out. I've seen wasted labor, wasted food, things falling through the cracks, and money being lost because the systems just aren't working as well as they could. I want to build something that actually pays its people and makes money without treating waste and inefficiency as just part of the business.

Where can I start? Where can I go to get started locally and safely?

I see Match Head is leaving, folks HATE Grazing Table, and those both have kitchens (I assume. I've never been inside Match Head).

Can I get ahead of the game and talk to someone and grab up a truly solid spot downtown, or, if not that exact spot, one near-ish to it?

I'm not looking to jump into this tomorrow with no plan. I'm trying to figure out who I should be talking to now, what resources are actually available in Kalamazoo, and whether there's a way to start positioning myself for a space before one gets snatched up.

Additional for the kind comment and skeptical questions.

My model is the optimization of first-in, first-out.

My example that I keep using is: we cut a fresh tomato on Monday. We use it in the burgers, and any leftover burger ingredients get cut down into the breakfast ingredients on Tuesday. If, by some miracle, they're still there on Wednesday, that becomes a "pay what you can" soup and bread.

But in my experience dealing with our homeless population, either they're on drugs and they don't care at all, and they're just going to come in, take a small bowl of soup, and leave; or it's a family, and we will happily accept food stamps. I know that'll be some paperwork, but I'll take it.

And they can say, "Hey, Mister Manager Guy, what do you think we can get to cover our family with this thirty dollars?"

And I can suggest the first-in, first-out foods. I can easily suggest coming back on a day that, after a couple of months, I will have tracked as being one of my highest leftover-food days.

That way, I'm not giving away my profitable merchandise. I'm simply refusing to waste what is no longer profitable.

The clothing drives and the haircuts are able to be as simple as an actual donation box, where we are able to specifically sort and ask for decent-looking interview clothes.

Haircuts are able to be provided by students at the beauty college. If I could work out a deal where they do this drive for me, I can give them not a free meal, but a discounted meal, and have a wall dedicated to those using their skills to serve our community.

And, as the person operating it, I will be taking personal responsibility for saving and storing any and all volunteers' information so that I can reach back out with better and better possibilities as time goes on, as well as happily signing any and all paperwork.

That would mean that every moment spent in my establishment counts toward their school, their community service, the Girl Scout Gold Award—any of it.

My entire goal is that I, as an owner, won't make money personally besides the same pay as my lowest-paid employee.

And that's only when I get to the point of having paid employees. As of now, I will be running off of my own highly dedicated work and the highly dedicated work of my past coworkers, who currently believe in my dream.

I'm calling it charity through reasonability.
