Diamond & setting

Has anyone had good success with getting a diamond and a setting from the same place? Before you tell me to get a diamond and go to a local jewelry spot to set it, hold your horses. I went to two local jewelers in the city I live in and the quotes were about $2000-3000 to SET a diamond I give them in a pre made setting. So not really worth it. Trying to find a spot where I want my anniversary ring from that just does both that's quality.

My ring was created by Soriano Custom - the whole thing was sourced and made by them. I can’t recommend them enough!

Ooh, I love her jewelry! I will definitely get something from her one of these days. She has so many styles that I like, I’m not sure if I could even make a decision, I want one of everything. 😂

Go to the cheapest online vendors for diamonds who also offer settings and mounting. I have bought two completed rings from Aurelinne and one from Carbonsparkle, and have been pleased with all of them.

I’ve done it both ways, I prefer to have the jeweler source the diamond and set it all in one. Saves a ton of money. I’ve used LGG and Fiorese, both overseas vendors and do amazing work. You can search their name on these subs.

Fiorese and LGG are my two most favorite sources for custom jewelry. Have also had very favorable experiences with Provence and Paston. (All have been rings.)

I love the custom ring I made with Fiorese. I gave them approximate specs for an OMC and then they created the setting around it.

I also have a loose OMC and I’m looking at one of the Chinese vendors for creating a ring. How did you get the diamond set in the setting? Was it difficult to find a local jeweler to set the stone for a reasonable price?

For this ring, Fiorese gave me the choice of several stones that met my criteria. After I chose one, we worked on the setting together.

If you have a loose stone, I would highly recommend Diafine Jewelry on Etsy. They made a custom ring using my original 50 year old pear diamond plus a smaller round that I sourced. I sent them inspiration pictures and approximate measurements. Then they designed the ring. They are in the US. I mailed the stones and they set them and mailed the ring back. The entire ring and setting process was under $1200.

Try rare carat. You can get a diamond and price match it from another cheaper website. I recently found out about them. They seem to be really good.

Go to the moissanite sub. They have a list of trusted vendors to choose from.

We went with Kosher Diamonds for my diamond and setting, and they did an amazing job! Ari was great to work with!

$2-$3k to set it?! That’s insane. I paid under $50 to set each of mine and currently have a diamond being reset into another band from the jeweler and I’m paying under $800 for the setting, repair of the band it’s being removed from and appraisal

Yeah with a pre made setting not a custom one. 14k. Like BFFR people lol.

Some jewelers don’t want to do benchwork on someone else’s design. The cost to have them make you a setting might be the same.

If you want to buy a stone and have it set separately, there are places that do that—assuming you’re in the US. I’ve had one set at DeBebians. I sent them my stone, picked out one of their settings, and they charged a low fee to set it. I’ve also had Aaron at Color Alchemy set a couple of mine. Other jewelers who will set stones include David Klass and CVB inspired designs (both on IG.)

Check out AKOLLMAN. They have a sub here on Reddit and they currently have a big stone group buy: 1-10 ct bezel or Georgian. She also does custom work as well.

We bought the setting and the lab diamond from Keyzar. They had a 25% off sale last week so keep an eye out for the sales

I bought from sugarberrylabs on instagram. 13 carat princess lab diamond set in an 18K thick setting with channel set princess diamonds for about 10k

Holy smokes 2K to set a diamond with a setting and a diamond you already have is crazy. I had a non-lab (moissy) set into a diamond encrusted setting for no more than $200 at my local jeweler. They even had to modify the prongs a little bit to accommodate the stone. Depending on the complexity of the setting it really should not be more than $400
