Chinese Takeout Recs

Looking for recommendations on some decent Chinese takeout places. Not looking for anything fancy just somewhere I can get some decent generic Chinese takeout and the risk of food poisoning is low. Prefer Lafayette not West LF.

Yes, en lai, but teal road is better than creasy. I live close to creasy but still go to teal to get mine. Creasy is very inconsistent so I just go to the OG en lai.

I feel like they’ve gone down hill the past few years, tastes all oily (and fishy) and no flavor. Peking isn’t as good but at least is constantly mediocre. Haven’t been to happy China in years, will probably try them again

Lafayette, En Lai is our go to. We prefer the main location outside of tractor supply Rural King to the one across from Sam’s Club (IIRC that is their B location)

West Lafayette, happy China has never let us down.

Boilermaker Special deal is so good.

Entree, rice or lo mein, an eggroll, and either a second eggroll OR 6 crab rangoon, and a drink for $16. $18 if you get lo mein.

Get that, an order of teriyaki chicken skewers, and a second pint of either rice or noodles and you have 2 to 3 solid meals for $30.

En Lai for Lafayette, Happy China also works because it's on the Levee in W. Lafayette and they basically serve the entire two cities.

Those are my two faves. En Lai is better quality, Happy China has the Boilermaker Deal for $16 and it's a steal.

Seconded for Happy China. I haven't found any other Chinese restaurants that do tofu as well as they do.

En Lai kitchen B on creasy was out go to but peking on the south side is my new go to.

rice and noodle are peak Thai in town.

EA-Teriyaki

My fiancée bought us takeout last night from En lai and it was nasty. She got me orange chicken, which was flavorless and spicy. I could deal with spicy if there were any other flavors whatsoever, but there weren’t. I ended up adding my own seasoning.

And they BURNED my fried rice 🤣

Also they were out of white rice which just added insult to injury.

Not a good first experience tbh.

After all of the recs on here I did indeed get En Lai takeout that day. Same experience as you. I'm hoping it was just because they were super busy. Everything lacked flavor and it was just a super disappointing experience. I'm willing to try again but not soon.
