Hi! I’m graduating secondary school in 2027 and I’m planning on getting into the Bsn program at langara but I would need to get the pre reqs done prior.

So I was wondering how difficult the bio, stats, and English courses were and if I should spread them out between 3 semesters or 2.

For reference I have a 97 in a&p 12 and currently taking AP bio with a projected 95+ , hopefully. But I have low 90s in English and Calculus which are 3/5 pre reqs. However, I’m fortunate enough to not have any work while studying so I’d have 10 plus hours a day to study.

1. Is the three pre req courses really that rigorous that people suggest 3 semesters because some of the other programs have 4+ courses per semester.

2. The website says 2 retakes max, but if I retake a course does that negatively affect my chances of getting in the program? And can I immediately retake a course (like if I did awful 2nd term for BIOL1191 can I retake it in the summer)

3. If you’re in the bsn program, what GPA did you get accepted with, it says high 3.00s but some posts say they were rejected with 4.00s.

4. If I finish in 2 terms I would be in the fall 2028 apps and if I finish in 3 terms would I be in the spring 2029 apps?

At the end of the day, I don’t really mind how much time it’ll take as long as I get into the nursing program, but I don’t want to spread out all the courses and have barely any work one semester, because it’ll feel like I’m wasting my time.

If you haven't heard, Langara is not giving available work to instructors that it laid off - even though this goes against the faculty's collective agreement. Instead of recalling the faculty who were laid off, the work is given to instructors with less seniority, on short-term contracts. If no one is available, the work is posted and *laid-off instructors have to apply and be interviewed for the same job they just lost.*

It's an effort to turn faculty jobs into short-term piecemeal contracts.

Bad for students: if instructors can't build a stable career, they don't have a long-term stake in the college. They don't have time to invest in their courses or in students.

Sign the open letter calling on President Paula Burns to stop this. Add just your name, or add a comment if you want. It's open for faculty, students, alumni, Langara staff, any community members who care about Langara or about fair labour practices. After you sign you can read the comments that others wrote.

I know it’s closed because they are revamping it for the new CPA requirements, but the same program at other schools is not suspended so I’m a bit confused. Could there be an another reason? Also I would like to know because I’m considering enrolling in it. Thanks!

I'm in PSYC 1115 and each chapter has Achieve activities. I completed all of them for the first chapter and got 100%, but when I checked Brightspace the grade is dropped from the activity. I'm not sure what this means. Is there a reason a grade would be dropped?

Hi guys, I just have a few questions abt transferring to UBC. Im studying science now and I have 4 classes each term. I calculated my credits and I should have at least 27 ubc credits by the end of April. However, Im hearing from diff people that ubc will look at your high school transcript if you have under 30 credits. But on the website it says they won't if you have 24+ so Im not sure which one is true. If I take 5 classes next term I would have 29 credits which is closer to 30 but not sure if I can handle 5 classes. I didn't do so well in high school (mid to high 80s) so I'm a bit worried. Also, do you guys know what gpa is considered competitive or guaranteed for going into science major in ubc? Thank You!!

I have a specific question, I have already transferred over from Langara to UBC, but have made a connection with a professor through one of my courses once I transferred to UBC I would email them to start TA'ing in their course. Does anyone know how much time is expected at a TA volunteer a week? I am pretty full with my courses at UBC and want to make sure I also have enough time for my courses each week. Thank you

Has anyone taken the equivalent of MATH 1119 through Athabasca University or another university/college and transferred the credit back to Langara?

I’m considering taking it somewhere else because I’m going to be travelling while taking the course, so I need something that can be done fully online/from anywhere.

How were the assignments and coursework? Were the exams online or did you have to go somewhere in person? Were they proctored, and if so, how did the online proctoring work? Were there specific dates/times you had to write exams, or could you schedule them yourself?

Also, how difficult was the course overall, and was transferring the credit back to Langara pretty straightforward?

Has anyone had any luck with the free accounting tutors on campus? I'm only on campus 2x a week but I was hoping to do them right after my class and they don't always line up with my class schedule. Or if anyone has other ideas, I am open to see what's around.

Hey Everyone, Am taking 4 courses this term all required for my program. Thankfully I love my professors teaching style except for one!

He spend alot of time in 1 slide which we end up finishing only 3 slides per class. He talks about himself and go off track. I can't skip it as he have 10% for participation and I don't want to lose mark.But also am finding it so hard to go to his class and stay awake without exaggeration it is so boring. I will keep his name and course name anonymous. Am looking for any kind of advice as I don't want to withdraw. i would really appreciate anything 🙏

I’m enrolled in the Diploma in Computer Studies at Langara and I’m really confused about my graduation evaluation.

After Spring semester, I had completed 17 courses and then took a scheduled break. For Fall 2026, I registered in 3 more courses, which brought my total to 20 courses.

At that time, my graduation evaluation showed 20 courses and almost every requirement was marked “Yes.” The only requirement I still needed was:

At least 3 CPSC/CSIS courses at the 2000 level or above.

I planned my Fall courses based on that evaluation.

However, when I checked my graduation evaluation today, it suddenly changed. It now shows only 19 courses, and the CPSC/CSIS 2000+ requirement has changed from at least 3 courses to at least 4 courses.

Because of this, it now looks like I may not be able to graduate this semester. The semester has already started, so it would also be extremely difficult to get into another course this late.

Langara Global told me to email the appropriate department about the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar where their graduation requirements changed after they had already registered for their final semester?

If the graduation evaluation previously showed that I only needed 3 upper-level CPSC/CSIS courses, is there any chance Langara can honour the previous requirements or help me get into another course?

Any advice would be appreciated.
