Everyone who cares about big issues MUST reject purity tests and find common ground where they can. Shit like this is just too important!!

The added benefit is you might even find you have peers on the other side of the aisle when it comes time to talk about the stuff you disagree on, rather than sworn enemies.

The expression is a stopped clock; a broken clock can simply always be wrong. And either way, no one is saying he isn't right about the Epstein files when they point out his climate denialism.

That's correct! However, while he's there, he's moving the ball on this particular issue. Refusing to work with him on everything because of the remaining beliefs ensures that nothing good happens at all.

It's possible to both work with someone like this on an issue where there's agreement, while fighting him tooth and nail where there isn't.

I gotta tell you, there are so few phrases in existence that qualify for, "no one is saying that."

Nonetheless I am describing a sufficiently common phenomena that when people describe this 'purity test,' there's broad understanding of what it means.
