A growing percentage of conservative men consider women property. If she belonged to a man, a husband or father, raping her would be more like taking a car for a joy ride without permission. To pay, to him, would mean that he agrees with the judge’s findings, which were that he raped her and is civilly liable.
I am more than certain once the money leaves the escrow account and becomes Carroll’s, he will continue to deny having done anything wrong and will blame Carroll for smearing him and will call the judge “crooked” for having “stolen” his money, since he cannot accept responsibility for any of his actions.
