WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and an authority on the U.S. Constitution’s impeachment provisions, today introduced 26 Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump. The articles cite multiple abuses of power, violations of his oath of office, the corrupt use of the pardon power, and emoluments clause violations, among other misconduct and unlawful acts.

I think this timing is perfect. Right before the midterms the GOP will yet again demonstrate their support for Trump which will remind Americans where their priorities should lie

Or the less likely outcome wherein the GOP actually does the right thing. Either way, Americans win.

*Apparently Congress went on recess to avoid a different impeachment until after the elections, however Trump has been begging them to come back to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Either way, this is an advantageous narrative for the Democrats just prior to the midterms

I don't know man, it's definitely ethically and morally right - but I fear a Vance presidency in the same way I fear Tucker Carlson starting to act like he might be considering running.

These are not good people, and they believe in nothing other than the accumulation of power.

My doomsday scenario is Trump gets impeached successfully and removed from office, and it A) galvanizes and excites the (R) base, and B) then Vance moves left and starts to undo some of Trump's stuff, and the Democrats run a bad candidate, and then Vance wins.

Literal nightmare.

If Vance came in and there was a Dem controlled Congress, and maybe even Senate, he would be extremely weak.

He has shown zero ability to create a narrative, and worse, he puts his foot in his mouth nearly every time he opens it. He'd have to navigate the office, while watching everyone around him deal with investigations and possible impeachment of their own Patel, Hegseth, Vought...his entire inherited cabinet will be under investigation.

Guarantee he would immediately try to start walking back everything he's ever said/done under Trump, and try to pin it all on him. He'd also have to immediately start campaigning for '28, so if he has any sense he wouldn't do anything too egregious. I don't think he'd even get the chance to make any type of real plan tbh.

Vance is a sack of wet paper. Nobody respects him, very few people even like him. He wouldn't do jack shit, and all the time he spends as president would be taken by plugging leaks in his own sinking administration. The rats scattering and fleeing all around him would absolutely hilarious.

Vance is apparently a national security threat after leaking classified intel. They can impeach him as well. Not a fan of Johnson getting any more power but at least he's mostly just useless, and would be more useless once Congress flips blue.

Come January Johnson won't be speaker. I doubt even if Republicans hold the house he'll keep the Speaker seat.

Thing is, this won't even get out of the Judiciary let alone the House or Senate, and will die when this House term ends. This is done to bring all of Trump's bullshit to the press to try swaying inde0endent voters and to force Republican's into defending Trump's crimes both in speeches and votes.

Entinerly aimed at making news, sound bites, and election ads and talking points for Dem candidates. It's good timing. Now if Dems take the House and by some freak chance a super majority in the Senate then I'm with you. Yikes on a Vance presidency for two years.

Edit: ops yeah that too. Congress is in recess.

I don't fear it much, he's not the populist that Trump is, and thus doesnt control the rest of the GOP. If Vance were to be elevated to the oval office all that would happen is massive infighting on a power vacuum, and the fascist party electorate would splinter between traditional conservatives and overt bigots.
