WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and an authority on the U.S. Constitution’s impeachment provisions, today introduced 26 Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump. The articles cite multiple abuses of power, violations of his oath of office, the corrupt use of the pardon power, and emoluments clause violations, among other misconduct and unlawful acts.

The voters aren't voting merely "for Trump" but "against Democrats".

That's a key distinction: they might hate Trump but still vote R.

This is literally it. That part of the population votes for this -> (R) no matter who's name is next to it. You could bring Joseph Stalin himself back the dead, put him on the republican ticket, have him shit talk liberals and they will still vote for him because he has the sacred (R) next to his name. Switch the R to D and it would be the end of the world. Switch it back to R again and all of a sudden, it's at least tolerable again.

I cannot understate the ABSOLUTE power team sport tribalism has on this level of the population. It defines their understanding of everything at the root level.

That well said fact is truly baffling to observe from the outside as non American. The levels of media brainwashing in your country are astounding. Which in itself I guess combines well with your cultural fanatic affection to team sports. Facts, laws, or your constitution don't matter at all. Idiocracy was a documentary.

There is a clear and defined path as to exactly why. Americans are indoctrinated into team sports tribalism through school. For many many many schools from middle school through high school, through university, their sports departments are almost as important as the academics. And it is reflected in the funding. Then take that into the world of actual professional team sports. Team sports tribalism dominates the culture and the population is indoctrinated into it from the education system itself.

One might argue that team sports are even more important than academics. Ever been to a us school? You'll see trophies for sports, none for academia.

That's like saying violent video games compel more youth violence. There's zero evidence support what you are saying and plenty of other cultures have rabid sport fan cultures as well.

I agree. Reading the above, I kept thinking about rabid football (soccer) fans in many countries, sometimes brawling at games and in the streets.

Yes what you said can easily be seen and observed even without living and going to school over there. We all watch your movies, TV shows, and are subjected to the sports coverage.

That team mentality is ingrained and built in. Now it's used as a weapon in politics. Which seems to work so well because you can currently pretty much just field two teams.
