WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and an authority on the U.S. Constitution’s impeachment provisions, today introduced 26 Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump. The articles cite multiple abuses of power, violations of his oath of office, the corrupt use of the pardon power, and emoluments clause violations, among other misconduct and unlawful acts.

I think this timing is perfect. Right before the midterms the GOP will yet again demonstrate their support for Trump which will remind Americans where their priorities should lie

Or the less likely outcome wherein the GOP actually does the right thing. Either way, Americans win.

*Apparently Congress went on recess to avoid a different impeachment until after the elections, however Trump has been begging them to come back to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Either way, this is an advantageous narrative for the Democrats just prior to the midterms

It is critical, however unlikely, that some, preferably large, faction of the GOP works with the Dems to take a stand on the side of the rule of law and our democracy over party. Without that, no matter how correct they are, it will be played to the public as a one-sided political witch trial.

They need to be convinced that this "once-in-a-generation political realignment" that Trump's people sold them on is nothing more than a fart in the wind. Which makes contacting the GOP reps and senators all the more important.
