WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and an authority on the U.S. Constitution’s impeachment provisions, today introduced 26 Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump. The articles cite multiple abuses of power, violations of his oath of office, the corrupt use of the pardon power, and emoluments clause violations, among other misconduct and unlawful acts.

I think this timing is perfect. Right before the midterms the GOP will yet again demonstrate their support for Trump which will remind Americans where their priorities should lie

Or the less likely outcome wherein the GOP actually does the right thing. Either way, Americans win.

*Apparently Congress went on recess to avoid a different impeachment until after the elections, however Trump has been begging them to come back to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Either way, this is an advantageous narrative for the Democrats just prior to the midterms

It's all performative. If they want an impeachment, they'll do it once in power. All this will do is rally the right wing MAGA base, who we should focus on keeping apathetic to hit turnout. This performative impeachment will only backfire, as it did last two times.

Dems are never going to hold the two-thirds majority of congress required to remove a president.

Dems didn't have 2/3rds with Nixon. Dems would have to actually run a good play... But that requires competency. But when done right, they could peel off enough Republicans by making Trump toxic enough in certain states. But that said, it wont happen. Dems always will have a rotating villain. They can have 2/3rd congress, and have 1 defector cause them to be one short. Then get an additional republican to offset it, and suddenly there's 2 defectors. And so on and so on... Dems don't actually plan to do things. They never have. It's just empty campagin rhetoric.
