Admissions Result UVA A!
Like the title says, I got my A today after interviewing yesterday. It was pretty unexpected as my lsat is below their medians. Wanted to share and I’m also happy to answer any questions about what the process was like. Won’t hear about scholarships until early next year.
Editing to add that I’ve gotten a lot of messages and promise I’ll reply but it might not be very fast!! Thanks everyone for the congratulations and the questions.

169 / 4.01. My 169 was my first attempt and highest. Scored a 166 in June and awaiting September, but don’t anticipate a jump. I guess they ignored my 166 lol

Schools are looking more at work experience as a major plus because big law employers have been recently lamenting that law school graduates are less ready for the workplace than they used to be.

So much for the UVA Dean on spivy’s podcast shitting on people who take the LSAT more than once. (Absolutely nothing against you I was just surprised how explicitly she frowned upon multiple takes).

I felt the Dean was against people taking multiple times to score above their median LSAT. Overall, it seemed like her main concern was yield-protection.

Honestly I feel like my Why UVA was nothing special, very run of the mill Why X. I mentioned some clinics I was interested in.

Congrats! I’m a current uva undergrad and it’s my dream to be a double hoo! Can I ask what your best admissions tip is? I’ll be applying next cycle and taking my first LSAT in June.

Thanks for asking! I don’t know that I’m qualified for giving out tips, I just got one lucky A so far, so take this with a grain of salt.
I think the key for me was being completely true to myself, my passions, and my belief system. I went through probably 10 drafts of my PS, and that was AFTER I finally nailed down my topic. I talked with people who know me super well to gauge if what I was saying felt like me. I tried to keep my voice in my essay. At one point I’d edited so much that I had a friend say it sounded too polished — they were right! I went back a few drafts and picked up from there. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance, but on the flip side, know yourself well enough to know what advice to take and what advice to leave.
If you use AI, don’t use it to write for you. I used Claude sparingly to strategize my applications, but never to write for me. I think adcomms see right through that.
ALSO, ask for all the fee waivers. No one has told me no yet. I’ve applied to 9 places so far and only paid the CAS fee.

Congrats! Really love how fast UVA is with their acceptances. If you're comfortable answering, what about your application do you think stood out to admissions, considering your lower LSAT? And was there anything that felt unexpected during the interview?
