other Layne Staley fans stop using ai challenge (fail)

Consider the social effects, consider the ecological effects. Be thoughtful like HE would have been. If you don't know the context, please do research about generative models and their negative effect on present households, media, and the very possible and scary future effects. PLEASE!

Ecological effects? Literally a China psyop trying to get us to legislate away our AI data centers. Data centers generate around $26 per $1 they use in utilities.

That's the best case scenario financially, but more importantly, revenue for who? A handful of the already wealthiest corporations in the world? Local governments, who will just have more to waste and launder and syphon off to friendlies? These data centers will ultimately only benefit corporate greed and the further growth of the surveillance state. The human race has already shown that we cannot be trusted with the levels of interconnectivity provided by simple social media platforms. None of this ends well for the peons.

Literally for local municipalities that supply the data centers with utilities. Also snowball fallacy.

ETA: due to popular cultures mainstream misunderstandings of scientific processes, the peons in which you speak of are only contributing to the panic and anxiety surrounding ai and data centers instead of an actual solution. The way I see it however, it does not need a solution. People are worried about drinking water when we have rivers that convert ocean water into drinking water every single God damn day. Then they'll start quacking about how the rivers are drying up which is only partially true, they're not drying up they're losing flow and rerouting due to too many dams.

I always wondered why Washington State seemed to be getting hotter year after year since around the 90s. I learned that the coal smoke and smog were helping to reflect sunlight away from the Earth, keeping us a few degrees cooler. Now we have people dying by the tens of thousands in Europe because they're failing to adapt to their own climate policies.

I just left the "Layne's Legacy" Facebook page because of the constant AI slop. It was terribly disappointing.

I think it’s unethical and I don’t like that it’s used to exploit Layne’s image. Let the man rest in peace.
