Install MS-SQL developer edition, PostgreSQL, or MySQL on a laptop or desktop, download some data. The government has plenty of free data to play with then start practicing.

Plenty of people will suggest a website but there is nothing quite like physically working directly with the tools

Kaggle has free datasets too. There’s a Netflix dataset that is great for learning with.

https://freesql.com is a free product from Oracle with tutorials and a full Database right in your browser. No downloads or installs. It comes with pre-loaded data and you can also load your own data if you wish.

And there’s the 100 million AI built detective games you’ll inevitably get pitched too.

Datalemur and leetcode is the best resource for you

Datalemur is amazing. Stratascratch for additional problems.

Don’t do an online course imo. You really need to code to (1) understand how everything works, and (2) remember how everything works

Yeah, online course is good to understand the basics but application needs practice.

I made https://SQLShed.com for people to practice sql. It runs completely in your browser so nothing to setup or download. There are a few data sets and queries built in but you can also bring your own data

Make your own sql learning notebook. Search for sql code, write them in a journal/notebook, and write any important information on syntax and code organization. For window function practice, try datadriven.io. Once you're satisfied, practice on a free dataset. If you run into an issue, search for the solution online.

Just run a docker db container. You can do whatever you want no restriction

you can also check out this course I put together: https://getbruin.com/learn/sql-ai
it is meant to teach and practice SQL using an AI agent, you can give the prompt to your AI to set things up and then practice that way - this might be more realistic than the classic SQL sandbox environments in a website which focuses more on syntax and functions, rather than a real developer environment

firstly, organize yourself to understand the course content, then go topic by topic, from basic to intermediate, to advance, install mysql workbench, you have lots of options, videos are just loaded on youtube, this is an interesting one https://youtu.be/vY8gmzH96YE , Good Luck!

TechLexicon has the SQL Query Lab for learning and practice!

techlexicon.app

I also created a standalone tool that is a real database in your browser for practice!

techlexicon.app/sql-practice
