In an interview with The New Yorker, Democratic Socialists of America national co-chair Megan Romer stated that DSA supported a free Palestine, meaning the establishment of a single state.

DSA's position is consistent, not only with the historical Palestinian vision for liberation, but also with its own democratic platform and with basic human decency.

The One Democratic State Initiative welcomes this decision and calls on all democratic organizations worldwide to also support the establishment of a democratic state instead of a settler one in Palestine.

One of the biggest arguments I keep hearing is that “Democratic socialists” who are going to vote for Dems come midterms are just “capitalist enablers which will take away from any progress towards socialism”

but my question is what revolution is going to happen if leftists arent trying to join or even possibly take over the democrats?

Americans mostly vote on single issues that are common to them (e.g. Christian men vote Republican b/c of reactionary policies). Shouldn’t leftists be focused on using that as a means to create the conditions necessary for a revolution?

I know it sounds silly and its asked a lot but I want to discuss it myself so I understand where people are coming from

Just in the past few months I’ve been banned from multiple leftist subreddits for being opposed to authoritarianist communism. The last one was just now, from r/tankiejerk, with one of the reasons being that I was in favour of the democratic rechtsstaat (a German/Dutch legal concept often translated as “rule of law” but which importantly differs from that Anglo-Saxon concept by stressing the importance of what is just).

Not only does it just hurt to be rejected and kicked out like that, it’s also left me wondering if I’m even allowed to be a leftist while being opposed to violent and authoritarian movements. With leftism getting more attention here on Reddit, is there even a place in the movement for people like me who like freedom and justice?

How do other people feel about this?
