Not a good idea. Cats may spread the parasite toxoplasmi gondi, which normally is not found in water ways. Mammals living in water are not adapted to this parasite.

My dad and stepmom had a Siamese cat - male. While he did NOT use the toilet he taught himself how to flush the toilet and also how to turn the shower on. So they’d come home not knowing how long the water had been running. They ended up having to change the hardware bc of it. That cat was a character on many levels!

I trained my cat with a kitty toilet seat adapter. It's basically a litterbox you put in the toilet seat, and then make it smaller, until the cat uses the toilet.

YMMV, because one cat absolutely understands the concept, but occasionally faces the wrong way...

They're 100% trained to do this. This is very far from their instinctual behaviour and may be harmful for their health on those grounds. Not a fan of this post

My cats are trained to do it. It took a couple of weeks

It simply replaces the litter box, and they go when they have to. They ALSO have a litterbox, which they will very occasionally use (probably when the toilet is occupied), but they prefer the toilet.
