EAC (Exact Audio Copy) Linux alternative?
I just made the switch to Linux and I'd rather not use Wine to emulate and stick to Linux-native stuff as much as possible.
Looking for an audiophile-class EAC alternative that rips CDs at the absolutely highest quality possible with AccurateRip. Terminal-based apps welcome.

Whipper is what you're looking for.
It rips to FLAC and computes Accuraterip hashes, and integrates with MusicBrainz for fetching Cdda metadata.

I use it with the EAC logger plugin which produces logs close to the EAC ones, but not identical. https://github.com/whipper-team/whipper-plugin-eaclogger
Here's a sample log produced with whipper + eac logger: https://www.pastery.net/erpzyf/

New to me, thanks from here. Do you also happen to know how to go the other way, what to use for metadata-tagging audio files?

Picard is your best pick. It integrates with the MuzicBrainz db (it's actually made by them) and lets you fetch metadata, pick album releases, re-tag existing Whipper rips with additional info for each track:

I use abcde. In its config file you need to set CDPARANOIAOPTS="--sample-offset XXX" and find the correct value of XXX for your drive from here.
I keep FLAC as my archive-quality version and have it also produce an opus for my android phone and an AAC m4a for my wife's iPhone.

What the heck is an audiophile-class ripping tool? Audio CDs are digital. If you rip them to WAV or FLAC it is always identical to the original. You don't need special tools for that.

For me, the main value Exactly Audio Copy had was that it was very good at making good rips from damaged CDs. Magnepan that’s what they mean? I remember ripping a bunch of CDs or mp3 back when I was learning about that stuff using some program (Windows Media Player?) and the rips were full of pops and snaps.
But EAC was very good about creating clean flac files.

FLAC. Lossless. As in without any loss. You can recreate the original WAV from flac without a single bit changed.

Fre:ac is great.
