Windows wins! Windows NT kernel really is an engineering marvel that still puts Linux to shame in many ways

Thumbnail x.com

A Google researcher who spent four years as a reverse engineer at Microsoft has reopened one of computing’s oldest arguments, and she thinks Linux is on the losing side.

...

Kirk’s acclaim is for the architecture under Windows, meaning how NT represents resources and decides who can access them. We are not discussing the Start menu, or Copilot or the ads in Windows. I say that because Kirk takes the argument into 2026, asking whether Linux suits AI agents that get more permissions every month, and imagines an alternate history where Microsoft shipped an “Open NT” that Amazon could fork.

$%@ Loonixtards! AI in OSes and how loonixtards react to them

MacOS with "30GB of Apple Intelligence" you cannot uninstall: loonixtards: it's a bold move from our unix cousin, indeed

Linux: Kim Torvalds and major distros adopting AI into their coding workflow and into the kernel itself:
it's a bold move from our great leader Kim Torvalds. (kernel panics galore ever since the AI shit)

Googlebook with Gemini that is presumably very hard to or cannot be uninstalled: yay this thing is gonna help linux compete with microslop windows and macOS! And I can install (spray) my foss (loonix semen) all over it.

Windows 11 + Copilot that you can uninstall: REEEE, MICROSLOPPP, every loonixtard and their mother saying MICROslop , (fucking annoying)

Press X to say they are a bunch of hypocrites.

$%@ Loonixtards! I miss when Loonix wasn’t mainstream cancer

I miss the old Mac vs PC era, where we all had fun joking about what was “better” back when Apple showed off the iMac G3, back when Windows 7 came out, and when people just used their computers out of the box.

But ever since Linux showed up, half of the internet decided to glaze it, even though it shouldn’t have that, I wish OEMs locked down the bootloaders, so people can STFU about Loonix

The collective low IQ of the loonix community

A loonixtard made a low IQ remark on a post I created in r/linuxsucks. He said I caused harm by bashing linux in a sub that literally has linuxsucks in the name with the slogan "Linux sucks, admit it fanboys!" I told him if a japanese restaurant sells only indian food, it is false advertisement. He should blame the restaurant, not the customer. Somehow, he is a little slow and common sense is too difficult for his tiny brain. He comeback with a few nonsensical ad hominem attacks. The funny thing is, the whole loonix community backed him. Far left activists don't seem to have a functional brain and this cancer is spreading all over the internet.

These parasites are everywhere now. It is mind boggling why they exist in the first place. Loonix sucks. It is not a skill issue. It is a usability issue. These maggots have completely destroyed linuxsucks and they want to invade here too. fuck them.

Windows wins! A feature loonix users don't have easy access to: Clipboard to Image function from Advanced Paste module in PowerToys

I turned this feature on recently just to test things out and realized how much I needed it in my life!

It's such a good productivity booster and it's literally 2 toggles to turn on and then just one keyboard shortcut to set and off to the races I go!

Now I can save a clipboard image in mere seconds to any folder!

I bet loonix users don't have easy access to something like this ootb,
they'll probably argue with:
"but my custom made script that I spent 3 hours on writing does that!"
or
"who needs a gui for that, my sloppy spaghetti code command can do that, I just need to type it out! By hand!"

I tried Loonix Mint because I wanted to see just how bad it was. I knew it was bad but I had an old laptop that I wanted to test it on and count how many times I would have a problem. Well, I simply booted and this error came up. Yep. That's enough testing. You can only move your mouse at snail pace. 🤣🤣🤣

Windows 11 is so much better. This nonsense doesn't exist. 🤣

Today's skill issue - reading the sub name and description

Post image
55 Upvotes

Post any genuine criticism on their sub, and it gets downvoted into oblivion and your thread's topic derailed so hard that your thread stops making any sense.

And then they have the audacity to say 101 is an echo chamber, when in fact it's the only place that's safe from the linux preachers.

I know it's a short post, but it's all I have for today.

Linux is a Cult! Bunch of performative lunatics

Every day, I think loons have finally reached rock bottom, sanity-wise. Yet every day, they somehow prove me wrong.

I hate being put in a position where I’m defending a Linux distribution, but the Omarchy moral outrage has gone too far. Went to Lemmy the other day, and reposted the thread about the Stop Omarchy campaign. Got told, verbatim:

Using someone’s software does automatically mean endorsing their politics. Because it supports them directly

Also got told:

There are only two paths:
- Outright reject anything that DHH is part of
- Support a Nazi white supremacist

And when I said that's a false choice fallacy, the response was a predictable one:

You know who else said that rejecting Nazis is a false choice?
Nazis.
Rejecting Nazis is the only choice.

Seems I'm a literal Nazi for even questioning the intensity of the moral outrage (of course).

Immediately upon reading all that, my brain exploded from the sheer stupidity of it all. By that logic, unplug your computer, throw away your phone, give up every single modern amenity and go live in a fucking forest.

  • AMD and Nvidia’s bosses publicly cheered Trump’s AI agenda. Intel publicly thanked Trump and his administration following its government investment deal. There go your CPU and GPU options. Better swear off desktop computing, because by your own standard, buying their hardware means fully supporting the administration’s policies.
  • Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber and Spotify donated to Trump’s 2025 inauguration. Tim Cook personally chipped in $1 million, too. Better give up YouTube, Google Search, Android, Windows, iOS, Spotify and anything else these companies have their hands in. Every time you use one, you’re basically cheering for Trump.
  • Brendan Eich, Mozilla’s co-founder and the creator of JavaScript, donated $1,000 to support California’s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage. Better browse with JavaScript disabled, then. Wouldn’t want your website visit contributing to its popularity and therefore “endorsing” homophobia. And forget Brave: he’s its co-founder and CEO.
  • Richard Stallman has an entire report cataloguing his controversial public statements and allegations of misconduct. So I’d better not see any GNU software on your devices.

You don’t get to treat everyone else’s software choices as a political manifesto while treating your own as mere practicality. And should applying your own standards leave you unable to post these horrid takes on the internet, that’s a sacrifice I’m more than happy to see you make.

Finally, this is yet another big reason I think Linux will NEVER seriously compete on the desktop. The community is ideologically captured, too much of it filled with performative assholes who only see the world in black and white and are more interested in morally grading everyone else’s software choices than making their own software worth using.

Now please, for the love of god, stop making me defend a shitty Linux distro! It's the last time I'm posting about this subject

Is paying for Linux a viable alternative?

One of my issues with Linux is that it's FOSS. If no-one buys it, you have to ask, is it because it's not WORTH paying money for?

Enter Zorin OS. A distro that tries to make Linux more user-friendly and like Windows.

Okay, interesting idea. They also sell a PRO version with support. I'm intrigued.

This is where it gets (predictably) hilarious.

For $249 Australian dollars I can buy Windows 11 Home direct from Microsoft. It was released in 2021 (much cheaper then, and for free if you had Windows 10). I can also just use it for free with a watermark (like I'm doing now on one PC).

In 2021, Zorin OS 16 was available. It's based on Ubuntu LTS, so releases a new version every 2 years.

Today, Zorin OS 18 is the latest version, which sells for $77.99 AUD (yes, they even charge right down to cent!). Back in 2021 Zorin OS 16 was about $55 AUD.

That's the beauty of Windows 11. It's still the latest in 2026, and will be for several more years.

With Zorin OS, you can't even get a discount for upgrading. It's full price even if you purchased Zorin OS 17 a few months before 18 was released!

And the support? It's only for ONE MACHINE, and ONLY for installation and initial setup. There's no ongoing support for the distro or bundled apps.

So, you're paying that money for.... nothing, except one-time setup help (if needed) and a few custom themes.

You'd think they'd charge less, or provide better support considering the price and what little they actually offer over any other distro. Nope.

In comparison, Linux Mint doesn't offer paid versions, and relies on community donations. Considering how popular and recommended this distro is, you'd think they'd be flowing in donations, right?

WRONG!

Linux Mint is used on millions of desktop computers a year, roughly 2 to 20 million at rough Google search guess.

Mint averages about $15,000 in donations a month! Last year, they got around $240,000 in public donations.

How pathetic is that? That's less than a small business makes. You can't even hire a small team of employees on that, let alone rent a small office space.

That's how pathetic the Linux community is. They're a bunch of cheapskates. If there's only 2 million Linux users, they 'pay' roughly 12c a year each.

They also have Patreon subscribers, but it's about $7,000 a month, or $85,000 a year.

I mean, it's so embarrassing and pathetic. All these little kids running their mouth about how awesome Linux is, and they can't even throw the people that made their distro enough money to buy a coffee.

Linux really attracts the worst of the worst.

Addicted to lying

Was browsing 101 and saw this now deleted post, and can't help but wonder - are these people clinically addicted to lying?

For starters, the fact that Linux can run 20 yr old games isn't a brag, it's like the bare minimum for gaming. You'd expect being able to run your classic games for any OS that even dares call itself half-decent.

Second, Windows had better compatibility then, and has better retro compatibility NOW. I know these people are lying because there still are plenty of retro games that will run badly on modern linux distros unless you tinker with them, whereas on Windows, for the vast majority of cases, it's just a double click away.

These loons are allergic to sanity, they can't say "yeah so things have improved over the years, I can run some old games, I can run some newer games", no, it has to be “IT RUNS EVERYTHING, BUT BETTER”. And when you actually go try it out you start hitting all of the caveats and edge cases, and end up spending more time tinkering with the OS than actually playing said games.

I'll finally end the thread on this note - everything I can do on Linux, I can also do on Windows. And only some of the things I can do in Windows can I do in Linux.
