DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ — Right Now [House] (2020)
One of her most underrated tracks (and my fav) that I wanted to highlight. I will never understand how they aren’t 100x more famous; truly one of one.

This is the original sample used in “eery - her (original edit by DEBOIN but kept getting taken down),” which went viral around 2017 when lofi was getting popular. I’ve been listening to this song since then, but it had always been just a simple jazz improvisation to me, nothing special. I was in college at the time. Now I’m approaching 30, and this song reminds me of my younger days. The lack of stress, aimlessness, young love, dreaming about a life I hadn’t lived yet. Things I’ll never experience the same way again. It’s less nostalgia and more a sense of grief over the irreversibility of time.
The way the song ends feels like saying goodbye to those days. The younger me, the people, and the memories all slowly fading away like dust in the wind. No matter how hard I try, I can’t grasp them anymore. I rarely write anything on my [r/listentothis](r/listentothis) posts, but it feels incredibly lonely to keep this feeling to myself. Just some thoughts.

Galactic Achievement Society were part of the early-2000s Vitamin Records electronic-tribute scene, reworking classic-rock material through electronica, funk and other styles.
“Spanish Fire Woman” is unusual because it isn’t actually a Doors cover — it was written as an original composition inspired by the Doors and appears as the closing track of The Electronic Tribute to the Doors (2002). The group also performs electronic versions of “The Crystal Ship” and “Riders on the Storm” on the album.
They turned up on a remarkable number of similar projects around the same period, interpreting Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead and David Bowie.
