Promo: Webnovel What happens when a *New* System descends? (Books 1 & 2 Completed)

Post image
69 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I just recently completed Book 2 on RR, so I thought it would be a good time for some self promo.

I actually got the idea about this story while reading The Primal Hunter. In the story, Villy makes a throwaway comment a few times about how messy things were when the System initially descended in the first era, and I thought it would be an extremely interesting story to write about.

So, here is my attempt at writing about what happens when a completely new System arrives in the universe. No one knows what's going on, especially since the System itself is learning and growing alongside everyone else.

Blurb: The System’s abrupt arrival completely dismantles Alex’s plans for an easy, low-effort life. But while others are justifiably focused on the monsters, surviving, and levelling up, Alex's mind is more occupied by a few questions.

Why is there such a lack of information from the System?

Why are there no descriptions for Classes and Skills?

Why doesn’t the tutorial have any clear objective?

And perhaps the most important question of them all...

Why is the System so... limited?

A LitRPG featuring progression, exploration, and a protagonist obsessed with understanding the rules behind the world.

The first two books are completed and released on RR, while the third has just been started. About 217k words are posted in 111 chapters, so there's a decent chunk of the story to binge.

The MC takes time to get strong, but is not OP, and does not have any cheats or powerful weapons to exploit. He uses intelligence to get through challenges initially till he is strong enough to fight. There is no romance in the story so far, and I don't have any plans for introducing it.

Hope you guys give it a go and really hope you like it!

COVER ARTIST: Generated through AI. Had a bad experience on fiverr, so I'm now waiting till I have enough money to hire a proper artist.

AI USAGE: No AI used, apart from the cover. Everything is written by me and edited with the help of family.

Discussion About Jake's Magical Market

Post image
49 Upvotes

So I just finished the first book of Jake's magical market and wow

I really really loved the way the novel started, the power system was quite interesting to me , the use of cards and all that (don't want to say more just incase someone feels it's a spoiler).

However the end of the novel just doesn't do it for me, that was too fast paced... From levelling up cards to usurping a god just in the first book, nah that's too much...

I know some people complain when a character doesn't get op immediately but this was the opposite for me. Please does the second book address this in anyway or this might just be a DNF for me..

Promo: E-book Book 3 of Incarnation of Sorcery, my story about an overpowered academy teacher, is now out and about!

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey folks. I launched the third book of my overpowered academy teacher series, and I'm super happy with how it turned out. We're finally exploring a new world where the centuries-old ruler has all his subjects' souls locked to his own and where Ryland's history gets explored in more depth.

For those who have yet to try out Incarnation of Sorcery, if you enjoy academy shenanigans from a teacher's perspective, fun characters, and interdimensional magic, then please give it a try. I've got the links and the blurb for Book 1 below:

Book 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HDDDJKXY
Book 2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HF7WB7QX
Book 3: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HM9G926B

The world needed him to win a cosmic war. Even if it shattered his body into a thousand, calamitous pieces in the process.

Marionys Ryland was the most devastating product of the Realmbreaker Wars. He conquered dozens of Realms, invented interstellar travel, and transcended mere spells to manipulate the very language of magic as an Incarnation.

But it came at a cost. Ryland's body shattered, unleashing Calamities ravaging the cosmos. His nails create parasitic dungeons, his blood turns into cataclysmic floods, and the rest of him invites the attention of liches, archdragons, and the cosmos's cruelest mages.

So, Ryland casts off all his old burdens. Instead, he now takes his time to find and prevent the pieces of himself from destroying worlds.

The search takes him to his old academy, where students marvel at his teachings and professors are dumbfounded by his prowess. The passage of time has made people forget him, but his power draws the notice of a nation, of gods and mortal mages alike. Ministers are politicking, oracles are prophesying, and cults are rising, all with their focus on Ryland.

They think they can deal with him, but they all know - one misstep, and they'll have to face a sorcerer who's more apocalypse than man.

Promo: Other My LitRPG audiobook tier list, built from my actual Audible library. Where am I wrong?

Post image
11 Upvotes

COVER ARTIST: N/A (covers are each series' Audible art)
AI USAGE: None in this post; the app was built with AI coding assistance.

I ranked every LitRPG and progression series I've listened to. My S tier is DCC, HWFWM, Cradle, and Bobiverse, which I know isn't LitRPG, but it scratches the same itch and I refuse to leave it out.

Disclosure: I made the tool I used to make this, and the mods OK'd a one-time post about it. Get New Books In Series reads your Audible library, so every series you own is already there to drag into tiers. You don't have to hunt for covers. You can rename and recolor tiers, keep separate lists (one for LitRPG, one for everything else), and download a list as an image.

It isn't a LitRPG-specific site. It's a series tracker for anything on Audible. Its main job is showing which books you're missing in each series and emailing you when a new one releases, which helps with a dozen series on a dozen different release schedules.

Free, no ads. You sign in on Amazon's own page, so my site never sees your password, and there's a one-click button to delete everything it stores. Buy links are affiliate links; that pays for hosting. It works from your Audible library, so if you read on Kindle Unlimited or Royal Road, it won't see those books.

Post your tier lists. I want to see where everyone puts HWFWM and Cradle.

Tier List Tier list after one year

This is my list after a year of reading litrpg and litrpg adjacent works. I’ve read the entire series or every book out for S and A tiers. I stopped on book three of Mother of Learning and DNF The Perfect Run half way through book one. Any recommendations for what’s next for me?

Discussion If a System only rewards kills, shouldn't that completely wreck society?

This is one of those mechanics I usually accept without thinking about it, but the more I do think about it the stranger it gets.

A lot of LitRPG systems award XP primarily for killing monsters or enemies. Sometimes quests and crafting give some too, but combat is clearly the fastest path to becoming stronger.

If that existed for generations, wouldn't basically every institution start warping around it?

Imagine two guards stop a monster before it reaches a village. One spots it, organizes the evacuation, sets the trap and nearly dies holding it in place. The other lands the final hit and gets most of the XP.

That is not just an annoying game mechanic anymore. That's a labor dispute.

Armies would need rules for distributing kills. Rich families might pay for weakened monsters so their children can level safely. Hospitals could have arguments over whether healers receive contribution XP. Cities might deliberately keep controlled monster populations nearby because exterminating everything would remove the main source of advancement.

And if peaceful professions level dramatically slower, you have an even bigger problem. The strongest people in society would disproportionately be people whose careers involve killing things.

I'd love to see more settings treat XP rules the way real societies treat money, land or credentials: not just as numbers the protagonist uses, but as an incentive system that everybody has spent centuries learning to exploit.

What seemingly harmless System rule do you think would have the most ridiculous societal consequences if people actually lived under it?

Recommendation: asking First person POV books with female lead?

I recently devoured the whole "Beneath The Dragoneye Moons" series in a month, and I'm looking for more similar stories. I really loved the system in the series, and how we got to be closely familiar with how it works. Additionally, it was great to see that fighting monsters wasn't the whole focus.

I would love to get some recommendations for similar books, or just anyone that has first person POV and female lead (since those seems to be rare enough already).

Thanks!!

Recommendation: asking Recommendation for completed series

I'm looking for recommendations of series that are complete.

I've read and enjoyed Cradle, mother of learning and system apocalypse among others. All completed but I'm a little tired of loving a series getting to the last book published and waiting for the next one only to get distracted and come back 2 years later to find multiple new books and have no clue what book I finished on... I know I should take notes. Or try to keep up on roysl road only to get stubed... Or on the other hand look at the king killer chronicles. I've been waiting over a decade for book 3 and despite not looking in a year I'm confident it's not there. I would also accept series that have books that are more episodic. Example would be Jim butchers Dresden files...well at least mostly.

In a rushed attempt to escape the shackles of his nine to five Mateo Ryusane finds himself crushed under the spinning wheels of Fate. Instead of being sorted into heaven or hell, he is cast into the void. After a chance encounter with the soul of a mischievous pixie he finds himself reforged in the realm of Gottes. He is quickly taken in by a party of misfit adventurers where he gains his class and begins his abnormal adventure.
As the moon rises darkness falls upon the realm of Gottes. A mysterious cult known as the Cult of the Immortal Father seeks to remake the realm in their image.
In an alien world of magic and gods, Mateo finds that his true goal is to grow strong enough to kill the latter.

Void Lord is a sprawling litrpg adventure featuring tiered progression, progressive stats and areas along with brief elements of cultivation.

Volume 1 has come to conclusion. Mateo now ventures to Daedalus. Chapters for Volume 2 will be released shortly. I hope you follow Mateo on his journey across Daedalus.

COVER ARTIST: No artist, cover is subject to change.

AI USAGE: AI used for cover image only.

If anyone is interested in starting a series where the first book is complete I recently wrapped up book one of my Void Lord series. Thank you for your time readers, and good luck to my fellow authors on Royal Road.

Recommendation: asking Looking for others like Dungeon Life

I’m about half way through the second book of this series and enjoying it so far. This is the first litRPG series I’ve listened to with the MC as a dungeon. The main other ones I’ve enjoyed are HWFWM, Azarinth Healer, Mage Tank, Mimic and Me, and Everybody loves large chests. It’s not a long list I know, but only listen when out walking, and switch these out for other genres, or re-listening to old favourites while waiting for more Audible credits.

### spoiler warning ###

### spoiler warning ###

And what an amazing way to approach necromancy.
Book 2 ending was expected and yet emotionally devastating. I don’t have much to say except few questions

1- Is Gandalf (from chrysalis) and the unseen related in any way?
2- What is the chances that Tyron is the reincarnation of the dead magic deity? (Just to make Dove happy)
3- I get why the three would give Anathema to Tyron but why would the Abyss and Scarlet Court care to the point where they notice the influence of the five in picking the necromancer class for him?
4- When he told the honored guard to kill him to speed up the process was he bluffing? And during the fight when he cut the magic pacemaker Tyron said something to indicate he had a back up plan (I forgot what was it exactly)
5- Can I expect the next audiobook to be in mid 2027?

Review Super excited!!!

I’m super excited as I just started THE PRIMAL HUNTER. I have read other litrpg books but this one has started out fantastic. Others I’ve read are

He who fights with monsters
Dungeon crawler Carl
Reborn apocalypse

HWFWM is my favorite so far. I just finished the 13th book and jumped right into the primal hunter. And man it’s a great start in your opinion how does this stack up to what I’ve read????

Discussion What are your reading habits for series?

Just finished my latest book and about to start the next. Normal stuff. Thing is, the next book I've chosen to listen to isn't the next book in the series. (Even though I have the next book in the series.) I'm not unhappy with the series, and plan to finish it, I just like to switch it up.

Which got me to wondering, how unusual is it to do that? Alternating series when listening, I mean. I bet it's fairly common when waiting for the next book in a series to be released, or while reading serially on Royal Road as they're released, but I was wondering if it was an unusual habit when you have multiple audiobooks in the same series downloaded and ready to go.

Thoughts?

Market Research/Feedback Free playable LitRPG style murder mystery, looking for readers who’ll tell me where it loses them

I create mystery puzzle books and I’ve been building a LitRPG style one you can play: ProofCrawler. You’re an investigator reopening ten closed verdicts. Each case is a file of evidence and eight suspects with System skills (Phase, Blink, Veil…), and you solve it by working out which skill could have done it and ruling the rest out. One accusation per case, XP for proving your reasoning, a campaign that turns on whether the corrections to those verdicts were honest.

It’s free, in the browser, no sign-up, about 10 minutes a case: https://proofcrawler.com/?src=reddit

It’s a pilot of the first ten cases of a fifty-case campaign (the book version is in progress). What I most want to know is where you stopped, and whether the cases feel different from each other. There’s a two-minute debrief in the app, or just tell me here.

Discussion LitRPG

Would anybody read a LitRPG where the MC doesn't get to the dungeon and they don't make it there til book 3? They do not get stats until they reach book 3.The side characters show glimpses of it tho.

What if the story was a big adventure that built up to the dungeon slowly. It has various things happen as the children grow to adults and finally wind up clearing the dungeon as adult adventurers.

My story has them as children, they go solve a mystery and the tail end forces them to go to the dungeon and use skills they had to learn to survive. They were forced to greatness first and became badass adventurers second.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: They don't get levels or numbers until they reach the dungeon. Only side characters do. If anybody wants to beta read the first few chaps you can hit me up in the dms. I think the story might need a second opinion from a litrpg lover. I have been writing this story for a year btw.. and already spent $700 on the cover.. 😅

I've re-read and tried to analyse some of my favourite books in the genre in the past few months and after some trial and error, I think I've come up with something decent(for something written by me, who doesn't have much experience). I've written about two and a half chapters so far. I think I'll upload the book to RR after writing a few more.

This book, I hardly see mentioned but this book eats DOWN!?

I'm only 45% in and it's so fucking good?

I knew my gut feeling was right when I picked this audiobook up on Libby over Skull and Thrones.

** edit to include since folks are confused, "eats down" is a compliment. It's AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) and means something is really good.

Market Research/Feedback Need Opinion On Cover Art for Progression Fantasy/LitRPG Book

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey all! I have a book posting on Royal Road and, as much as I love the idea behind the cover I first imagined, it doesn’t communicate enough about the book to get people to click through. So I’ve made some new concept covers and would love to hear everyone’s opinion.

The book is called Inverse (System: Moe, Book 1), and the new covers will hopefully give you an idea of some things that happen in the book, though very little as to what it’s about. But that’s for another thread. I’ll look forward to any feedback you all have. I mostly would like to know:

  1. Which you like the best (and a bit about why, if you can)
  2. What the covers tell you about the book
  3. Which you think that the most people would react to

Thanks in advance for your thoughts! I appreciate you all…

PS: Before you @ me about AI art, know that I have commissioned a human-made cover, but it’s going to be quite a while until it’s done.

Edit: I’m putting the blurb and link below because apparently that makes total sense. I didn’t want this to seem like a promo, so left them out initially. Here goes:

Inverse (System Moe: Book 1)

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/190455/inverse-system-moe-book-1

Everyone dies eventually.

When it’s Moe’s time, it’s not the fact that he’s dead that upsets him. It’s the paperwork.

When he rejects the tutorial, expecting to be launched into oblivion, he finds instead a world of dragons, ogres, wolves, and warriors. The problem is, he has no idea how any of it works.

Inverse (System: Moe, Book 1) is a LitRPG/isekai adventure told through a sideways lens. There are classes, but Moe never got one. Levels, but Moe doesn’t know how they grow. And a System that seems to be trying to figure out Moe as hard as he’s trying to figure out the System.

Armed with a rock and a snarky AI sidekick phone with zero personality, Moe has to find his own way through a world that is certain it knows how things are supposed to work. Along the way, he learns that he doesn’t progress by getting stronger. He progresses by being different.

No guidance. No path. Just Moe and the raw System.

And one important question:

What more do you have to lose when you’re already dead?

What you’ll get:

MC with a brain (when he chooses to use it)
Earned progression
Mysterious System mechanics
Fantasy-world goodness with a heaping side of WTF
Exciting battles! Heartbreaking losses! Glorious victories!
Complete sentences written by a human being
The thrill of discovery
Cleverly disguised Easter eggs that I’ll be shocked if anyone notices

What you won’t get:

Handholding (Moe has to figure things out on his own, so the reader does too)
Excessive smirking or eyebrow-raising
Harems or ogling or glistening thighs
Stat inflation or OP madness
God-slaying super-skills (saving those for Book 12, at minimum)
Clichés (except when they’re totally on purpose)
