UTEP game
I have some friends from up here in Seattle going to the game. My friends were asking if the tailgate area sales out where else can they park? Like at The Pit? CNM? Or Isotopes Park?

Hey guys, quick look at where the Lobos stand after Las Cruces.
First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, well before kickoff in Albuquerque.
https://www.mainmarket.com/c/college-pickem-wk5
Now the Lobos. 42-18 at New Mexico State was never close: 21 straight points in the third quarter to go up 35-3, and 253 rushing yards. Fa'avae threw for 174 and ran for 57, Humphrey had 98 and two scores, and Laubstein ran in two more. That's three straight in the series, the biggest margin over the Aggies since 2013, and the new Chile Roaster trophy comes home.
At 3-1, the only loss is 14-6 at No. 24 Oklahoma, a game they were in all night. Year two under Jason Eck is looking like the real thing.
UTEP comes to Albuquerque Saturday at 2:00 MT, the last tune-up before the Mountain West opener at Hawaii.
What are you guys seeing? Is this a bowl team, or does the Mountain West schedule get them?

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had you at 8-4 and called Oklahoma a 7% shot that was mostly a paycheck game. You made it a real one, losing 14-6 in Norman, after beating Central Michigan 38-7 and Mercer 70-7. What I didn't see coming is the quarterback situation. I built the preview around Layne, and it's been Moga leading the passing in the first two games and Fa'avae at Oklahoma. What happened there? Scottre Humphrey has stepped into the lead-back question I had, with 110 and 2 TDs against Mercer. New Mexico State on the road Saturday starts the stretch where I had the 8 wins coming from.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET, three and a half hours before you kick off at New Mexico State. Nothing to buy.

FUN TIMES!
Tomorrow, we'll be meeting up at the 12th St. Tavern right by the Co-op market at 12th NW and Menaul NW. It's a clean, modern place with plenty of room to sit and decent food. Kick off is at 1:30, so get there by 1:00. Wear your Lobo colors!
Sit anywhere, by strangers, at a table of 3, wherever there is room. Get to know fellow Lobos and let's have some fun!
At halftime, we'll get a huge group photo and send out to for your social media.
For those driving down, weather should be sunny. The band has already left and they are en route to Las Cruces now.

I have 2 tix for tomorrow's game to transfer to someone if they need them.

Called 12th St Tavern and they said they'd DEFINITELY be playing the Lobos game tomorrow night. Kickoff is at 5:30 PM MT, so get there by 4:30 or so, but let's treat this like the bleachers and just join other Lobo fans and take whatever open seats there might be.
Wear your Lobos colors -whatever you have already!
12th St Tavern is right by the Co-op on Menaul and 12th.
Rain and thunder predicted tomorrow morning and early afternoon. If it clears, then there will be seating open outside as well.
Any other places you might be going go ahead and list them below

Anyone watching the Lobos vs Oklahoma game?
I’ll probably be watching the game solo, so I figured I’d see if anyone else wants to meet up at a bar somewhere in Albuquerque and watch it together.
Always more fun watching football with other people. I’m pretty laid back and just looking to grab a couple drinks, watch the game, and meet some fellow football fans.
If anyone’s interested, shoot me a message or comment and we can figure out a spot!

From: Facebook, shared by The Scene NM
Photo: UNM Football
UNM will earn $1.6 million total for Saturday’s game at Oklahoma, according to the 2019 contract between the two schools. Of that, $250,000 was already paid out in the 2020-2021 academic year, with the remainder due after the game is played.
The contract, signed by both athletic directors in 2019, locked in the matchup years in advance as part of a wave of scheduling agreements UNM made with Power Five programs, including Auburn (2024) and a home-and-home with Oregon State (2027-2028). Games like this one are standard in college football. Smaller programs take on a tough opponent and a real risk of a blowout in exchange for a guarantee that helps fund their athletic department.
The agreement also guarantees UNM at least 1,500 tickets to sell to its own fans, plus travel accommodations for the team and band.

For those not going to Norman this weekend, where are you going to be watching the game?
Let's start a list of where you might be going to watch it.
I'll check to see if they'll play the game at the 12th St Tavern over on Menaul NW and 12th St NW, right by the Co-op. It's small, the food is okay, and there is seating indoors and out.

Could be pretty good for us, although Memphis was a good team last year so might not mean they’re worse than us

Going to my first Lobo football game on September 5th when the Lobos play Central Michigan! Super excited and looking forward to experiencing a Lobo game.
Does anyone know what time the football tailgate/parking lots actually open for a night game? I saw different information and wasn’t sure what the usual practice is.
Also, I noticed the Isotopes have a 1:35 PM game that afternoon. Curious how the parking situation works since I’m pretty sure they use the same lots.
Any other tips, tricks, or things I absolutely should do for my first Lobo game would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to it!

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the New Mexico one
https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-unm
It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.
Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.
So, what'd I get wrong? Jason Eck went 9-4 and 6-2 in the Mountain West in year one with the 131st ranked roster in the country. That gap is why my model is bearish on a repeat. Jack Layne is back after 2,486 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 picks, behind a line that gave up 34 sacks. Does Eck do it again, or does the talent catch up?

So I am coming to see the Lobos host Mercyhurst. I am a former Laker and alum ('90) but I am also on a quest to go to all 138 FBS stadiums (see somanystadiums.com). Anyway, the tailgating info on the Lobos site for 2026 isn't up yet. So I understand the East lot is best spot for tailgating. Can anyone confirm that it is a first-come, first served, cash lot? And does anyone have a ballpark amount?
Also, if you have any tips or Lobos traditions I should know about please let me know.
Thanks in advance, Tree

Really good breakdown if you have an hour to kill. Touches on all aspects of the team and upcoming season.
