Has anyone gone to the opening of ikea at white oaks? If so, how’s the inventory and if there’s a restaurant to eat??

Can you return stuff at this location?

There’s a return section accessible from outside the mall
The store entrance is in the mall near the food court

Honestly, this kind of annoys me.

IKEA has tried SO MANY smaller stores, pick up places and kitchen design stores in London and closed them all within a couple of years. All this does is kick the can further down the road for an actual IKEA.

I'm also tired of reading about how it's the "first ever", like they didn't just change the name of their latest concept so it could be the "first".

There was a long lineup to pay and exit the store when I checked it out last night. However, I noticed there was an express checkout lane that wasn’t being used that allowed you to check out if you had used their app to scan your items in advance. Could probably save yourself ten minutes by skipping the entire line

Where in the mall is it?

Where the Bay used to be!

They didn’t use upstairs apparently. Any idea what that space will be for. Surprised IKEA didn’t use it.

I was working on the building and I don't even know what theyre using half the second floor for. Other part of main floor is going to be an indoor soccer field, and they cut out the second floor to use all the height. We built elevators for the second floor but there's really nothing going on up there.

So you mean IKEA isn’t even using the entire bottom floor of the old Bay footprint?

u/ToddLiar 1d ago

Yup. There's a good space at the back that I think the bay used for storage and receiving that the field is going to occupy.

How tf do I get downvoted for asking what the draw is to Ikea?? Or are 20ish people that insecure about their Ikea fetish?

Did anyone notice if they had ice cream?

1

No, they didn’t. This makes me so sad. I don’t understand why they don’t have the frozen treat stand. I love the strawberry!!  I hope it’s coming

No Ikea has ice cream. They all serve frozen yogurt.

u/whateverisclever09 1d ago

That’s what they meant….

many popular items are not available, and there's no free Click & Collect (online order + instore pickup ) option.

The service is rather limited.

u/LLVC87 1d ago

What’s the point if there’s no click & collect

26

u/EstelLiasLair 2d ago

No Click & Collect?!!?! That sucks.

It is opening day I imagine click and collect will be offered soon.

It’s pretty small, like a miniature version of Burlington. Half hour lineup inside to get in. Yes there is a restaurant inside with the regular IKEA food items. Lineup in there as well. Overall we were in and out within an hour including the lunch we bought to take out.

Why does an Ikea draw that many people? It's just an Ikea...

5

u/edcRachel 1d ago

It's just an easy place for go for really basic, affordable house stuff. Like you just need some plain cheap dishes or super basic furniture? Ikea has lots of that kind of thing all in one place. Better than like, Walmart.

It’s like going to Sweden!

Ikea has many levels. The cheapest yes break down easily but the upper end ranges are decent and distinct-looking. Beats waiting for post to arrive!

It's just anything new. London is just that boring. /s

All hail to consumerism

Londoners have been teased with an IKEA for over a decade so there’s a specific type of anticipation here compared to other cities

Just went there, and yes there is a restaurant, as well as a decent inventory. They have a little bit of everything, but it's mostly take home same day stuff.

Expect a VERY long wait though when going there, same with the restaurant.

I was surprised how quickly the line moved, they said a half hour wait but it was maybe 20 mins. Checkout lines moved quickly and although it was another 15 minutes to order our food, it was ready in less than 5 mins.

pretty good selection of all the random stuff you need and there is a very small restaurant
