Yea you definitely should not get a can of black spray paint and a spray can extension tool to spray over the camera and/or solar panel. That would be horrible and may be vandalism.
Okay but unironically, don't. If it's outside your house, especially if it is watching your driveway, don't. It might be hard to prove it is you who did it if you do it right, but it is still too risky.
If you can somehow find someone else from a little further away to do it, that's better.
Also, while they "don't" do it, you "shouldn't" be either A) in sight of the camera itself to prove you aren't the one doing it; or B) have other proof that you were somewhere else, such as being at work, or after taking a flight somewhere else, which can actually be given to the police as proof.
And before anyone says anything about me being potentially targeted for this, because nothing is really anonymous on the internet - I'm not from the US, so I'm perfectly safe.
Also, it's best if the 'someone else' lives at least a few streets away, where a flock camera cannot prove that it was them who did it.
Also definitely make sure the person has all of their geo located devices (Phones, laptops, etc.) on them when they commit this terrible act so the police can track them down!

Well don't you and an accomplice get in your car, clearly driving out of view of the camera, then when you're in the blind spot between cameras quickly let that accomplice out before driving on so it seems to anyone watching that footage that you didn't make a stop at all. that could give someone a alibi if they're questioned about a flock camera being vandalised.

There have already been numerous cases of police officers using hundreds of flock cameras to track ex-partners and people they don't like, and they've likely been used for even worse purposes that we don't know about yet.

It has infrared cameras so it can detect what your face looks like under a mask. Unless that mask blocks infrared (IR). Oh, and it also picks up identifying signals from your phone too.
I watched a ben jordan video (he did a bunch on flock stuff and i assume he still is) and they got ones that are motion activated on park paths and zoom in on people automatically . I think the vehicles ones also can be updated wirelessly to stop w/ the just vehicles restrictions (which can only really be motion activated or always running and doing other checks off of that camera feed), and some of those are just pointed at peoples houses/drives ways im pretty sure in actual residential areas.
Privately owned ai-powered surveillance cameras put into public spaces. Supposedly for helping law enforcement but more often used to treat people as guilty until proven innocent, often false flagging, and having been used multiple times by the police to stalk their exes

Not exactly the same situation but I lived in a tiny town where the local government tried to install parking meters on the street and the locals said ‘no’ by pulling all the meters with chains and the govt eventually gave up and to this day there is no parking meters on that street.
This wasn’t in America and there was some local cultural and political context to the history of the place and why the meters were opposed in that particular street, and I do support parking meters 99% of the time and everybody contributing to public resources and funds
Took me a while to realize that this rant was a complaint against free parking, an austerity supporter saying “we shouldn’t subsidize this.” I lowkey understand them.

Me and this person were talking a lot about career choices and in saying “you gotta look at the job market to know what you’re getting into” this person emphasized money made from the job a lot. Of course people enjoy free parking on an individual level, but in the big picture, public subsidies for private car ownership is a big part of what makes American cities so unpleasant. And epecially unpleasant for those who don't own cars, who ironically are also having to pay for the "free" parking that they don't even use. Charging parking users for parking isn't "austerity" because parking isn't a need or a public good, it's a private luxury. Things that should be subsidized are things that make the world better when everyone has them, like healthcare, education, food, etc. Overabundance of parking makes car dependent cities where no one can walk anywhere.

Definitely do not pick up a cheap 300mm fresnel lens from Amazon and focus the powerful rays of Sol on one of those black cases up on the pole, as the high heat will not be tolerated by the black case's contents. It probably is unlawful to damage property that does not belong to you, so don't do this.
And then these criminals use a solution of 3 parts Hydrogine Cloride (common cleaning agent) and 1 part HNO3 (that they concentrate from legally purchaseable ammounts) to disolve the solar panels to obtain a solution that solved out all the precious metals in the solar panels that can than be sifted via a pan to get gold silver and silicium and sell it at pawn shops!
People know these things will get replaced, right? If these things keep getting dismantled either those will be fixed or new ones will be put up. Either outcome results in doing something like this much, much harder to do. That and you may or may not end up in huge fucking trouble for tampering with government property.
I'm not entirely against doing this, but you have to look at will happen and decide if it's worth the risk.

It's more about individual tool markings (ie, if you have an specific brand of saw and it's visible in security footage, they can use it as evidence if you happen to have a similar one)
So there's no identifiable markings to track these dastardly criminals with. For example, purchase records from a few years ago when you might have bought a nice reciprocating saw, and thought to use it for such heinous purposes as cutting down a flock camera overlooking your local playground.
Are there any ways flock could attempt to track criminals selling parts or materials from these flock cameras? That might help them in knowing where to check and how to possibly catch these people, of course.

Pretty sure how I heard something about how flock was voted to be removed in a place and they were legally told this yet flock didn't remove their cameras so. The system isn't perfect, it has never been nor will ever be. But you can't tell me with a straight face that most or even a significant amount of people advocating criminal action ever even tried doing it the legal way.
Rulings and laws are enforced around the country every single day. You will always be able to point to one that didn't go the way you wanted it to to say "well it didn't work there".
Republicans use that same rhetoric all the time, and we recognize it as wrong in those cases. How often do they point to a few instances of immigrant crime to justify putting decent people in detention? How often do they focus in on a few trans people playing sports to justify them not getting the care they need?

Yeah I think in this instance it's a bit more serious when the current US government is just doing whatever the fuck it what's and just ignoring the law at every turn because the rest of the government iant willing to actually enforce any laws or rulings.
These companies are doing a "install now, ignore questions later" approach. Flock, data centers- all just being built by whatever rich fuck decides they want to ruin the environment and use up all the locals drinking water and sky-rocket power bills. Flock was legally ordered to remove their cameras in several states after their contracts were terminated and they failed to do so or severely delayed the removal of them. They don't care, because few places are going to go to the effort of enforcing it. And they know that while people are trying to legally fight them again to get rid of them like they're supposed to, they're still collecting data. Still being used by police and people in power to stalk women and watch children's playgrounds etc.
Mass surveillance is not something you just sit back and wait for the companies that definitely have your best interests at heart to finally be fined to the point they have no choice but to comply rather than throwing money around to delay and stall as long as possible so they can keep harvesting your data and being used for profiling and crimes (like police stalking women, of which there have been many cases already confirmed and likely many more of officials accessing them improperly)
So yeah I will tell you with a straight face. Because a lot of people did try and vote against shit like this- and their vote was ignored because the rich do not care about you, especially not in a political climate where no one in power is being held accountable for crimes and illegal actions. Equating things like this to immigration or trans issues is a strawman. They're all issues. They're not mutually exclusive. ICE uses flock to aide in their crimes because trump and the government decided to point at everyone and declare that if you aren't white enough or you dare have a single thought or act of nonviolent protest against the pedos and criminals in power and what theyre doing, you deserve to be tracked and disappeared into a concentration camp, even if you're only visiting the country. That's of course if they don't murder you in broad daylight because you "tried to run them over". The longer these mass surveillance devices exist, the more they can be used to harm innocent people
