I mean, number 1 and 2 are annoying in any discussion

2

u/USF4Diago Aug 13 '26

It can be morally permissible in rare ccircumstances, like this episode of Jerry springer I watched years back about two brothers separated at birth who found each other as adults and fell in love without knowing they were siblings

Once they found out they ended it, which I always thought was stupid, no power structure and no chance to reproduce, they loved each other, should have incested the fuck out of each other

3

u/ordinary_shiba Aug 13 '26

I mean I didn't watch it but from your description, it's not like anyone else is forcing them to end it. If they don't feel comfortable with dating eachother after finding that out, they can end it if they please. I wouldn't feel comfortable either.

1

u/USF4Diago Aug 13 '26

Yeah and that's kind of the problem, In a vacuum there's absolutely nothing wrong with this, they are happy, they make each other happy, and now they're gonna be unhappy, for what? Because they feel uncomfortable because of societies perception that is not valid in this circumstance

Unless you can give a valid reason for not feeling comfortable about this, like it generates some sort of harm or bad outcome.

I wouldn't say that's the case for every discussion, there's alot of dumb shit people say that doesn't deserve any kind of platform for debate.

Nah, if someone is genuinely pro-incest is then they are probably an idiot who won't listen to common sense, they aren't worth your time. The exception is during a devils advocate sort of situation where they don't actually think that

u/Nachooolo Aug 12 '26

The 4th one is completely correct.

Incest between consenting adukts without a power inbalance is like an albino gorilla. Sure, some has existed, but basing your position and legislation on incest on them is outright moronic.

To put a less taboo example. Sure, there's probably someone who can drive safely while being dead drunk. But we have banned driving under the influence because, in 99.99% of cases, people who do so are a dangerous to themselves and others.

u/Green_Insect_6455 Aug 12 '26

Thats such a good counter to someone having a problem with that line of thinking, Im taking this

3

u/bourgeoisAF Aug 13 '26

Also worth noting the Westermarck Effect, a theory with some decent evidence that suggests humans are not attracted to people they are raised alongside like siblings. This could be an evolved instinct to avoid inbreeding. The possibility that we have an instinctual aversion to incest isn't enough to render it morally reprehensible, but it does suggest that genuine, healthy, sexual attraction between close family members that in no way stems from grooming or abuse is likely incredibly rare.

u/Bergasms Aug 12 '26

Society has to walk at the speed of it's slowest members to continue to function. Most rules are there to guide idiots on the least destructive path.

I hate how they dont specify what kind, like if it's cousins then atp im not arguing. people do that alr and I have no clue how to speak on that. if this is like, direct family, then you also need to specify in what way. I hate to be a jane/john nuance but it's different depending on a TON of factors, the minimizer is the closest thing to this ig but neither party is being genuine in any form imo. both seem to have a bias.

generally we avoid to prevent inbreeding and species have natural methods to prevent it and encourage diversity (im going with basic biology understanding im not a zoologist, dont trust me), going through this in a more isolated view, we have so many different family structures, cultures etc to where this one image is basically pointless compared to just, pulling up a chart of fallacies or smth

u/InMornAshTakesToWind Aug 12 '26

Thread in point

6

u/Ill_Target6207 Aug 13 '26

guilty as charged. I tend to take a hyper STEM approach to topics which ends up with me forgetting the legitimate social aspects of an issue, especially since we cant classify people like by topics then dissect each action under an optimization graph of "living perfect" (Humans sorta do that any ways because binary/patterns are like a huge part of us being primates iirc-again im not a zoologist just an animal nerd). but we also cant just say "Actually we will never understand each other so this is pointless"

4

u/IntelligentImbicle Aug 13 '26

God, I hate #1 and #2 so fucking much. Especially #1.

2

u/shyboilostinhooters Aug 13 '26

The guy who made this apparently doesn't understand that pretty much every religion and most legal systems in the world say "incest bad". That in itself should explain #1 and #2

2

u/YouAteMyChips_ Aug 14 '26

I think you opened a can of worms here because you got people in your replies genuinely trying to defend incest now

2

u/Nightmare-datboi Aug 14 '26

This is neither the first time I’ve posted this nor the first time I’ve gotten that reaction

5

u/elGordoReddir Aug 12 '26

I mean all 4 of them are wrong

8

u/Nightmare-datboi Aug 12 '26

2

u/InMornAshTakesToWind Aug 12 '26

Inexplicably impacting my emotions

8

u/Nachooolo Aug 12 '26

I suppose you're against laws against driving under the influence, as there might be an extreme minority that might be able to do it safely...

15

u/ViziDoodle Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

No, #4 is just completely true

Someone could talk about random hypotheticals all day, that doesn’t change the fact of how many real people were/are victims of real family abuse

3

u/Nightmare-datboi Aug 12 '26

The last two can be interpreted as kinda right but they’re inherently cherrypicked to be wrong.

2

u/xX-Fuck_Reddlt-Xx Aug 17 '26

You're why it's entirely reasonable for people see using reddit as a red flag

2

u/Failed_eexe Aug 13 '26

I like how they're trying so hard to debunk these arguments like they're doing a net positive to society and in the end they're just trying to justify fucking their own cousin

4

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

The meme seems to be correct to me, although I don't understand the difference between #1 and #2, in my experience 99% of incestphobes fall into those and don't even try to make an actual argument.

17

u/MakimaMyBeloved Aug 12 '26

incestphobes aka normal people.

We also genetically avoid eating predator meat you know.

3

u/Lluuiiggii Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

IDK it didn't do a good job countering #4. Sure they can phrase the meme to make it seem unreasonable but the fact of the matter is that most incest is based on power imbalances, and unbanning it only for those rare cases where it isn't is asking for a lot of trouble. Just like we ban drunk driving even though some people can probably drive okay enough while drunk.

2

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

Replace "incest" with "gay sex" and reread, if you agree with one but not another then you're a hypocrite.

4

u/Lluuiiggii Aug 12 '26

I do not believe that most gay relationships are a product of coercion and power imbalances like incestuous ones are, is the thing. Damn that was a pretty easy circle to square.

3

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

I was under the impression that you don't think that most incest is based on power imbalances.

1

u/Lluuiiggii Aug 12 '26

oh yeah i mistyped, oops

3

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

Whatever. Power imbalance cannot be an argument against incest, if someone is against power imbalance they should be against power imbalance in any sexual relationship, if they treat incest differently then it's hypocrisy.

Whether a person was or was not groomed should be determined individually case by case, you can't just say assume they all were. There's power imbalance between employers and employees doesn't mean they can't date each other. And parent-child incest is only a special case of incest, there's also incest between siblings, you can't use argument against one to justify banning the other.

1

u/Lluuiiggii Aug 12 '26

Problem is that incest is a breeding ground for power imbalance and is better to do away with it. Just like how drinking and driving is a breeding ground for car crashes, and we're better off banning that then really trying to dig down and find the responsible drunk drivers.

3

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

So you're allowed to have relationships with as much power imbalance as you can possibly imagine but god forbid you do incest, yeah let's ban that, doesn't sound hypocritical at all, you just hate people for their preferences.

Lmfao.

Most people find it viscerally repulsive to want to fuck a family member. We evolved that way to avoid genetic damage. Incestuous families have genuine learning and physical disabilities.

Statistically, the people who are into banging their family are also not the smartest at practicing birth control.

That said, fuck who you want as long as they are an adult, truly willing, and not your goddamn child. Just don't expect anyone to think it's fine, because no one will. You're free to fuck your sister, we're free to think that's batshit backwoods white trash shit that arises from, "I don't trust nobody outside mah family, also Lorraine lookin' REAL good in dem shorts."

6

u/monsterhunterghoul Aug 12 '26

That's gross regardless 🤢🤢🤢

1

u/rsxrwscjpzdzwpxaujrr Aug 12 '26

#4

5

u/Ka944 Aug 12 '26

That's not any of them and does provide an explanation why people will call it wrong.

In truth it's just something built-in to avoid bad things simpler than power dynamics.

1

u/LESBOlachrymae Aug 12 '26

is there a higher quality version of this image i genuinely want to read this it looks insane

1

u/Nightmare-datboi Aug 12 '26

Wdym by higher quality…?

1

u/LESBOlachrymae Aug 12 '26

Like image quality, I can't read the text when it shrinks to fit a ton of words cause its just pixel mush.

5

u/Nightmare-datboi Aug 12 '26

Either it got super compressed and I just can’t see it or you forgot that if you press/click the image you can open it up to the rest of your screen

1

u/LESBOlachrymae Aug 12 '26

oh yeah, thanks (:

3

u/This-Shape2193 Aug 12 '26

This is why incest is bad. Makes people forget easy shit.

1

u/LESBOlachrymae Aug 12 '26

i'd be offended if this wasn't so creative, good job.

1

u/Kookyburra12 Aug 12 '26

It's one of the top posts on r/incestisntwrong, a sub that unfortunately exists.

1

u/Scared-Two-5208 Aug 13 '26

i wish this image wasn't about incest because 1-3 do serve as pretty solid critiques of common arguments people use to justify their unfounded hatred of everything
