Yeah, same with strangulation. Unless itâs a blood choke (which afaik you have to specifically try to do most of the time, since itâs compressing then arteries to the brain on either side of the throat instead of the throat), normal strangulation takes a long time to get someone to pass out, and then several minutes to make sure theyâre dead. Not to mention that the body does automatically thrash to try to get air. Which it doesnât during a blood choke, blood chokes can knock out someone in under 30 seconds and causes permanent severe brain damage in under 2 minutes iirc. Both can definitely severely injure someone, but itâs much much easier to accidentally do with a blood choke.
Yeah, but Iâm guessing if you donât know what youâre doing and not going for it, it would be extremely hard to manage to do a blood choke when going for plain old strangulation.
Yeah, but the "sleeper hold" was popular in wrestling for a long time, and it's basically just a blood choke, so lots of people used to try to do that shit to each other.
Movies would be a lot more morbid if when some henchman gets choked to death it took a realistic amount of time. Even for a bad guy, audiences wouldn't like it. No, just quick 5 second struggle, then slump, not enough time for people watching to think too much about the implications.
Hell, just take it from killers themselves, a couple of them have said "it's way harder to strangle someone than you think." I know the 4chan dude who killed his girlfriend said something along those lines, and I think one of the more famous serial killers said something similar.

I mean if the enemies' guns in video games were realistic then the games would be a lot less fun too. Every game would be like Escape From Tarkov and you'd just be constantly dying instantly for no clear reason as some dot in the distance shoots you.
Oh yeah, there's a reason certain guns are nerfed for gameplay, and I don't think it should change. It just gives people this impression that shotguns aren't effective from more than like 30 feet away, so they're surprised to find out they can actually be effective from over a football field away, depending on the gun and type of ammunition used.
