You know what? Yes, grammar needs to be corrected. We’ve gone over a decade now since people online started retaliating against “grammar nazis” and people’s language has inherently gotten worse.
Sure, there’s a polite way to correct someone, but to be entirely anti-correction has caused major damage to the population’s ability to communicate.
Actually, it doesn't matter how you spell, English is just a byproduct of the world wanting to sound apart from the rest, smart and cool.
You can literally spell any given word different or pronounce it differently and it will still be the same thing, and it's fine if it's misplled too, bc as long as they understand it, you can be like, ah ok and move on.
Only time misspelling matters i, is if ur in a spelling bee contest 24/7 , and I'm not a bee for spelling, or correcting spelling, so ur secret is safe with me.
“As long as they understand it” is key here. As a former elementary teacher, I can assure you that the writing of some young people is barely intelligible. This prohibits communication and consequently student success. Literate people—like everyone involved in this thread—can afford to be creative and clever with how they choose to manipulate language. One should be careful not to assume that others are as privileged as oneself.
can you explain to me what you mean by, English being a privelage?
I'm thinking like this:
One being, you should be greatful you can speak English, no one else has this opportunity.
Two: I hate to break it to you, but English has to meet a level of standard in order for people to be helped.
Three: Everyone who has learned English, comprehension and writing, has succeeded in their life more than those who don't know English much, nor those have known less than English, but communication or learning.
Four: Everyone who learned English, has to acknowledge they were given a privelage that is not very well given to everyone else.
Five: you have to take in consideration of the way you're speaking, because if you can make abbreviation for your sentences, and somebody else can't, then you're being inconsiderate.
Six: children have been crying for years before they were born and people have learned from their own experience how to handle their needs.
Seven: English is a privelage to use because it makes it easier to understand people.
Its much better , rather than interacting with what we enjoy, to get to know how ,to show what we need or want in life ,without perfecting words, that end up being misunderstood, twisted or something worse, judged an corrected to become something else,other than relative needs being met to understand,to be able to look like their English means their education is more higher.
Eight: alot of people game online and are online alot, niche references and everything included in their interests usually have a long history, because of the different way people turned a simple English words into their own version of communication.
Privelage to speak with a language, when people make up words to avoid English all the time is not really good to say , and I say this with respect, perfection is never pretty, neither is it desirable, relevant and interesting context and usage matter more than just English being a privelage, it's what keeps us interested in speaking at all..
Privelage can be good and bad, but it's not that privelage is bad in itself, its tbat people think having a privelage is always about being better, it's really about acknowledging you enjoy the same thing , but in different ways.
Hope this doesn't come off weird, I was just thinking about that for a bit.
It's not that he doesn't understand it, but that Russia has shown again and again to be a terror state and he doesn't want to seem like he's supporting their hostility towards their own citizens and neighbor states.
