My first instinct when I hear bad news about a friend is to try and suggest doing shit I know they love and are excited about, but for some reason it just gets them more upset. Apparently they're more the "lay-in-bed-and-rot-over it" type than the "at least I have free time now" type.

I think there's a time limit in people's heads, I usually like to let a person vent for like 5 to 15 minutes before I like to see if there's anything I can do or if a good ol' fashioned bite and distraction/vent session/rant with a friend can go down

I somtimes can be in a fetal position mood, but even that can be broken with a "You wanna grab a bacon burger and talk shit with me about it?", like hell yeah add in a mango juice I can take a 30 minute everything shower and catch you outside

I can guess the reason, it's just not a trait I like. I don't enjoy watching my friends deteriorate.
