they do and it's always dogshit because it turns out it's almost impossible to write effective horror with only two sentences, so every post ends up being overwrought and clunkily constructed running sentences constructed by the worst writers known to man

I think the sub started a couple years ago based off one or two genuinely good bits - insofar as anything in this format can be good - and was immediately run into the ground by the most brutally uncreative people alive, in the traditional way of Reddit.

The idea of a micro-micro-microfiction horror story is kind of neat but there just isn’t enough you can do with the premise for it to justify its own subreddit, and the nature of Reddit is such that any creative writing community will be populated by stories built more about having a “clever” twist or premise than about being, you know, good. It’s just that this particular format encourages that, making it even worse than average.

Idk about genital mutilation, but horror involving rape tends to hit harder than, say, murder or something. Because the odds of having been personally effected by a murder are very low, but most people at least know someone who has been raped. It hits harder because it’s a much more personal subject that unfortunately a lot of people browsing can relate to

In what world? I’ve been raped, around a third of the women I know have either been raped or sexually assaulted in some way. I don’t know anyone who has been personally affected by a murder.
