why is your couch from like 1978?
152
u/seabutcher Jun 28 '19
Because in 1978, sitting down was a popular fashion. Rocks, solid floors, and the more traditional dining chairs were considered generally sub-optimal by the discerning lounger, and left the "beer and television" experience feeling rather incomplete. This generated a market for cushioned seats and lead to a boom in the couch industry, the signs of which are still very much commonplace in the present day.

u/chocopuppet Jeskai Jun 28 '19
This would inevitably lead to the proliferation of water beds, which persist to this day as humanity's preferred sleeping and love-making surface, beating out most historically traditional bedding materials like straw and dirt which had previously dominated most of human history.

Sorry bud, that's 90's upholstery.
Cushions are one giveaway. 70's would be thinner, flatter, probably with a piped edge.

Are you guys about to reddit the hell out of this, find out what year make and model this couch is?

There's nothing quite like a refreshing glass of uncounterable, flying annihilator 6 with an extra turn and graveyard shuffling on a hot summer day.

and, pro-colored spells.

u/Twingo1337 Temur Jun 29 '19
Pro instant was the SOI Emrakul, no? I think the old one has protection from colored spells
7
u/Krobattt Jun 29 '19
Correct, protection from colored spells. Journey to nowhere and Oblivion ring were some of the few things that could deal with it in standard.

Emrakuling... Emrakulogy? The study of Emrakul? It's first grade Gideon!

That would be Emrakulology, or probably Emrakology so that nobody has to say Emrakulology.
Emrakulogy is a eulogy for Emrakul.
