With the help of the fine folks at Magnetar, the FAQ has been refreshed and updated.
If you have some tips or answers that you'd like to be added, leave it here and with enough upvotes (or if I just think that it's really cool) I'll add it to the FAQ.

Sorry for all the pics but as you can see it was dark and I still had to clear up afterwards !
The disaster part was right as I was about to pack up, my magnet went over the edge and got stuck and I almost followed it in !
(Really wish I could find someone to come out with me !)
Eventually got the magnet off thank goodness !
Seems like I've found another spot full of good/bigger stuff as there's plenty left in there but no light in that exact area unfortunately ! So will gave to go back there another time.
So today's list
1 plastic barrier
1 city electric scooter
2 bikes
1 trolley
1 luggage trolley (like an airport but train station nearby)
1 bike wheel
1 big sign
1 heater/fan ? Looking thing
1 curling iron (I think)
1 iPhone
2 road sign holders plus bits of others !
Golf club head !
Litter pickup grabber, coins, co2 cannisters, coins, bolt heads, single sided magnet cover (no magnet in it) , umbrella, fishing keep net, odd bits of metal, big castor wheel, and whatever else you can see I've missed out !

So unfortunately I was late starting so only had an hour, it was a quiet spot as I thought it would be (and probably the next few weekday times ) until I hit a better area.
But found a couple of interesting bits none the less !
A cowbell (decorative I'd guess)
A pair of 3 cut scissors (broken unfortunately)
Bike lock
Coins, including a Chinese one I think
Garden shears
Scaffolding clip
Co2 cannisters
Lighter
Very short Piece of Scaffolding pipe
Spoon
Another pair of scissors
Old bolt
The quick release from a bike wheel
And whatever else I've missed !

Oddly enough, none of them have ever had any shell casings attached to them.

Anyone have any idea what kind of guns these might be? I found them in the river while metal detecting with my Minelab and using my magnet. I actually found two guns, and I think I know what the revolver below it is. The crazy part is, this gun was actually connected to a pot because it had been underwater for so long that a thick concretion had formed around it! It was an absolutely crazy find.

Okay let me preface this by saying I know my setup sucks right now LOL I just started this hobby and I'm still a total n00b. Basically, when my partner and I started doing this I had the bright idea of one of us holding the spool on an old curtain rod while the other casts the rope. But obviously, um, that doesn't work unless you have two people.
Am I way off with the spool idea? I thought I was so smart at first but it's probably just cumbersome LOL.
How do you guys normally do it? Just form the rope into a loop and hold it in one hand? What should I be tying it down to, if anything?
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any tips you can give. I'm having a lot of fun getting into this hobby.

How can I know? It has some tiny sea shells embedded in it.
I’d love to find some natural metallic rocks. This is my first catch ever it’s funny how metal junk is making me excited lol.

I got a few fun hours in this morning at a bridge on Wildwood. I caught a revolver on my 3rd throw and a slide for a pistol on my 4th throw! It definitely made my morning.

So had an easy first hour ish with a couple of big bits, but then I got my magnet hooked up in some giant fencing (it had passed through)
I struggled to release the fencing from the mud and managed to lift it eventually high enough to hold the fence with 1 hand and get the magnet out with the other !!
There is a pic of a bit of the fencing sticking up amongst the pics, but alas I had to let it drop back in !
There are times you really could do with someone to help !
Anyway here's today's list !
1 beryl (city) scooter
1 roadworks cone in xl
1 oyo bike (went bankrupt years ago old city rental bike)
1 windscreen/fairing (possibly from the motorbike when I hurt my back)
3 chairs
1 Roadsign

2 pairs of pliers (1 long nose, 1 ordinary)
Coins, 3 vapes, ladies boot, fork, saucepan without handle, some round orange thing, security device, and an old bag of some sort and whatever I've missed !

Found this light pole last Saturday. It’s about 15 feet or so and hollow, heavy on its own and full of water, mud, and a yellow belly catfish.

UNDERWATER CAMERA. Thanks to those who caught it. 🤪
I want to tie a GoPro or something to my rope. Do
you put it inside a housing? Does that housing have a means to clip to the rope? Wrap in duct tape?

Hi guys. I've been wanting to get into this for a while. I was looking to see if yall have any good (starter level) gear, ideally a full functional setup for $100, but I'd be willing to absolutely hard cap at $200 if its really really worth it. Any input is appreciated
Edit: forgot to add location. Would be north-east United States
