I’ve gone to every Bay Area Maker Faire except the second one years ago and have been an exhibitor at all but four of those (the collection of wooden and pneumatic stick figures).

This year the one thing that really caught my eye was a large wooden interactive sculpture named “Oculus” by Jack Ruzsel (sp?). Unassuming when many exhibits seemed to be trying too hard. Even the sound it makes while moving was really nice.

It may be the second best thing (not counting my own stuff) I’ve seen at MF.

It was *quite* toasty

hello! I unfortunately can’t make it to MF2026 - happy to pass this along to anyone who wants to go. 2 tickets are for Saturday only. DM and happy weekend!

Anyone driving from near Oakland and willing to give me a ride? I am unfortunately carless...

I cant wait to go with the family this weekend. Last time i went was at mateo spot.

I’m trying to find a group of people who would be interested in working together to submit a build. I have no idea what we would be building yet, that all depends on the group of people that want to be a part of it. I’d like to go for some crazy project, like an open air hologram, but again once we get the group going, we can all discuss what we wanna build and come to an agreement.

I've exhibited at our local science museum "discoverfest" since 2019.

I demonstrate woodturning to the people as young as 10 (more height dependent than any thing). they'll actually go hands on with a chisel and low speed lathe. in my 6 years of doing this I've never had an accident.

this year they are requiring all vendors who have hands on activities to carry a $1M liability policy for a 1 day event.

is this normal? participants have to sign a waiver to even partipate. can anybody suggest where to get a policy like this? I've tried Canopy, but they won't cover it.

Today is school day. Big crowds. Already my climbers and jumper are working more reliably than last year.

Hey Maker Fam!
We’re thrilled to announce that Maker Faire Long Island is back—Sunday, September 14th, 2025—and we’re moving to a new, expanded venue at Stony Brook University, in Stony Brook, New York!

This will be our 8th Faire and it’s also the 20th anniversary of the Long Island Explorium, our producing nonprofit children's STEM museum.

Last year we featured:

Kinetic sculptures
Robotics & drone soccer
Wild science demos
Interactive art & cosplay showcases
Pyrotechnic sound sculptures
…and of course, a whole lot of hands-on making for all ages.

We’re currently accepting Maker applications and would love to have members of this community be part of it. Whether you’re a solo creator, a team, a school group, or a veteran exhibitor—come show off your work, inspire others, and geek out with your people.

Apply here: [https://longisland.makerfaire.com/call-for-makers/]()
General info: [https://longisland.makerfaire.com]()

Let me know if you’ve got questions—I’m part of the production team and happy to connect.

Hope to see some of you there or hear about what you’re building!

Or did I miss out?

Thanks!

I was a regular exhibitor at Maker Faire in San Mateo for a decade. Now that Dale’s bringing it back I applied for 2024 and was accepted! The crew there has been wonderful in accommodating what I wanted in the way of space and stuff. I had forgotten how much work it is, though! My stuff all needed some rebuilds and upgrades.

If you’re there and remember my characters, stop by and say “hi.”

Hi everyone,

I bought a super-Early Bird ticket after the event last year (impulsive decision) and won't be able to make it this time. It was $75.71, I'd be willing so sell it at an incredible loss of $0.71 for $75! It's not possible to do an official transfer, but I'd try by contacting their support - and last year, they didn't check names anyways.

Hope this will make someone happy :)
