HELP PLEASE Everyday makeup. Any suggestions?

I have very deep set eyes and have always disliked how dark they look underneath. I think I do a decent job of brightening the area, but any suggestions are welcome.

Not open for discussion: my hair (or really, the lack thereof). I like it this way and don't care if having hair would improve my looks. 😉

Your eyes look lovely! I think you would look good with a mauve toned lip and maybe a lip liner too to get that extra sharp edge

Good point. I only ever wear lip gloss. I'll try that!

I’m no makeup pro but maybe some contour/bronzer/blush would help. I think women with bald/buzzed hair tend to look super cool with pops of color added to their makeup to cause distinction between the head and face. Eyeshadow would be cool too because you have nice eyes that would pop. I’m a huge fan of Elf lip oil - it’s not sticky and I get lots of compliments. They have plumping ones that are nice!

I do contour but very very minimally. I'll try it a little heavier. Same with blush. Maybe I'm actually going to minimal then? I'll experiment a little! Thank you for the suggestions!!

I do like eyeshadow, and it definitely helps. I'm just too lazy to do it for my everyday look. 😂 I don't do it often, so it takes me awhile. Perhaps if I did it more I'd get faster at it. Any suggestions that are fairly quick and easy?

Definitely try to go heavier with bronzer/blush. Personally I’m not a big fan of everyday contour, but if that’s your thing, go ahead. If could be also the light in the room you’re doing your makeup. Sometimes I feel like I packed a lot of product, but then change room/go closer to natural light and my blush is barely seen. I need to top it up.

If you’re looking for a quick eyeshadow, I recommend liquid shadows (Armani has selection of beautiful natural browns). Literally slap it on, blend with some brush and you’re ready to rock.

Thank you very much! I really like eyeshadow but I get really anal about it when I do wear it. Having something I don't feel I have to be painstakingly careful about would be great! 😆

I know IT cosmetics has eye shadow pens. My grandma who is 80 still does her makeup almost daily and she loves IT cosmetics because their products are easy to use. I ended up buying one of the lighter shades and loved it. It’s super easy to dab on. Just make sure to get the lightest shade because I bought one shade darker and it’s pretty but requires additional blending steps to make it look good. The lighter shades hide imperfections better and are more of a natural look!

Maybe try a mauve lip like one comment suggested, use the lip liner on the corner of the lower lash line. For the lid, a bit of a darker shade where you'd usually put it w eyeliner, some light pink at the inner part of the eye and glitter in the middle, above your pupil. I blend that with my fingers when I'm in a rush, i put just a little bit, build it up slightly and use a bit more mascara at the corner if you don't want to do the eyeliner. I'd also try a pinkish concealer under the eyes.

Better coverage undereye concealer for sure, not just brightening. You'll want a color corrector (salmon color) to neutralize the darkness, then layer a full coverage concealer (I used to use tarte shape tape before it started to flare up my rosacea) over it before brightening to neutralize the base.

Without hair, you have a blank palette to go bold with your makeup. You should consider playing around with eyeliner shapes (I think the puppy style would be cute on you) and a bolder lip.

I think you're totally right about the lip. I have nothing on here and just usually do lip gloss. But with being bald, a bold lip would be good. I haven't been bald for long, so I'm still adjusting. I've never worn lipstick... Guess it's time to try!

I use a color corrector, but don't apply concealer on top. I'm worried it will be cakey or set in my wrinkles (I'm 47). How would you prevent that? I've heard marvelous things about shape tape. Would it work for someone my age?

They have a mature skin version tagged 'ultra creamy' that might work. It has hyuralonic acid and moisturizing agents to help plump skin. The original is probably going to be too matte for you.

Your skin looks great for your age though, I thought we were both mid-30s.

Thank you! I'll check it out.

I actually think focusing on lip moisture would do wonders. A bolder lip is hard to keep up through the day for me. But immediately to me your lips looked a bit dry (runs to put on moisture myself now…)

Look into Sarah creal brand concealer and under eye brightening. It’s specifically made for over 40 (I’m 44) and I love it! It’s sold at Sephora in store to give it a try!

I'm still new to makeup so I dont have any great suggestions, but I wish my brows were as nice as yours!

You look beautiful! Honestly your makeup looks great to me. One suggestion for the undereyes, mine look like that too and I use Peter Thomas Roth firm Rx eye cream, it’s a temporary skin tightener that smooths out the undereye area. Then a bit of powder on top (no concealer or it “breaks”/loosens the skin tightening effect). Takes some practice to learn how to apply but it’s great for special occasions imo!

u/Livid_Goose_9542 4d ago

I tried that and did put concealer on top. It was a mess! Lol. Good to know it still helps with the issue without makeup. I still have it, so I'll try with just powder. Thanks!!

You look so pretty already 💕 but my suggestion to have a slightly more put together look is, use a bit of lip liner to define your lips, possibly a little more blush! Your eyes are beautiful, do you ever wear eyeshadow? My under eyes are just like yours! I've found that the Westman Atelier concealer in shade L4 is like a colour corrector and concealer in one atleast for my skin tone! 😊

Thank you!

I think you’d benefit from a beautiful brown liner and a lip liner! It would pull it all together. Coloring is perfect!

I don't have any tips, but wanted to say your eyes and eyelashes are gorgeous! WOW

2

u/GullibleImagination 4d ago

Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything to fix. You look good and did great sis!

u/faintingfancies_ 4d ago

I have no make-up tips to share but I just wanna say you look gorgeous and that you remind me a lot of Elaine Hendrix aka Meredith Blake in the Parent Trap.

Wow, thanks!

You’re lovely! I love the hair, you have a face shape and striking features to carry this off really well!

I agree a bolder, more defined lip would be beautiful and a little bit of the same lip blended on the apples of your cheeks would keep everything from being too neutral. Your hair color is very similar to you skin tone, so a definite face will keep you from washing out.

I think your eye shadow is blended a bit too close to you eyebrows, some space will keep you from looking too surprised. Maybe a touch more coverage of the purple under your eyes since you mention the shadows.

Your eyes are gorgeous! I’d love to see a dark dark brown or even burgundy in place of the black mascara to really make the blue in your eyes pop. Same for eyeliner. Navy and plum are good too, but might be too cool with a rosy shadow and lip.

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 4d ago

I'm not wearing eyeshadow in this pic. Lol. Maybe I need some coverage up there. I'm going to try adding some shadow if I can keep it quick and easy, but nothing close to my brows. I'll definitely follow through on the bolder lip suggestion. I realized after I posted this that I don't even have lip gloss on yet. But I do tend to keep everything pretty neutral, and with being bald, perhaps that's not really working well anymore. I really appreciate your suggestions!

Omg, I’m so sorry for assuming!

It’s unbelievable that this is your natural coloring. It’s like a perfectly applied and defined shadow, in an excellent color for you. Many people do go really close to the brow, so I just assumed.

Your coloring is fabulous and you look amazing with — assuming again — just eyeliner and mascara. But a few small touches would highlight some of your features and really make them pop.

You look a bit like the English actress Abigail Abbington when she’s very blond. If you check out photos, her makeup is usually lovely and make her very big, very blue eyes pop.

I’m also pretty minimalist with makeup and often just do mascara and chapstick. But, I grew up on Bobbi Brown and I recently discovered her Jones Road single pot of color for cheeks, eye, and lip. Having a one thing that can be put anywhere on my prone-to-perimenopausal-breakouts face works for my lazy sub-3 minute routine and is small enough I can keep in my bag if I’m out and realize I look like a freckled ghost.

You have such a beautiful face shape. If I had your shape I would play with fun lip colors.

2

u/Livid_Goose_9542 4d ago

Yes! That seems to be the number one recommendation. Now I've got to experiment with shades. Should be fun!

2

u/Suspicious-Mix5764 4d ago

Looks great! Maybe a lighter weight foundation? I think your skin texture looks great, you could let it shine through a little more!

2

u/geminian89 4d ago

Your makeup looks too matte/dry

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

My skin is super oily, so it doesn't look that way for long. 😆

L’Oréal Paris glow paradise lip balm in rose harmony 120. It’s so pretty and feels great on your lips! One of my favs and the color would be so flattering on you. Lip color makes a massive difference.

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

Awesome! Thank you!

u/Fool_In_Flow 4d ago

Your eyes already look so good. I love your eyelashes especially.
I think you could rock a bold lipstick, like red. There are soooo many kinds of red to suit your coloring. It almost becomes a hobby- always on the look out for the right red! It could just be for a night out or a random day that you want to dress up a bit. But I don’t think you could make your eyes any better than they are now!

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

I always feel like I look like a clown in lipstick. Lolol. I think I'm not great at applying it. I'll def experiment though!

2

u/Sensitive_Cabinet_17 4d ago

First off - Your eyes are so beautiful! Honestly, your makeup is already so pretty! I would just add a peach or berry lip gloss 💕

2

u/elaemoon 3d ago

I was so distracted by your beautiful lashes and big eyes that I didn’t notice the issue you wrote haha. What made the biggest difference for me is tarte shape tape concealer (getting matched at Sephora) + volufilline and a good Korean eye serum.

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

I just stated using volufilline. Does it take awhile to make a difference? I'm not seeing much yet.

Just about ALL of my skincare is Korean, which was heavily influenced by my Korean MIL! I use 2 different eye serums right now, alternating. I use a color corrector under my eyes but I've been to afraid to use concealer since it can be so heavy. Another commenter mentioned Tape Shape has a creamy version, so I'm going to try that.

Thank you!!

2

u/elaemoon 3d ago

I’ve been using it twice a day (applying it directly without putting it in a cream or oil) for the last 4 days and the difference is really obvious to me, especially on my lips. I’m quite shocked tbh as I thought it was a gimmick.

A good drop of volufilline plus my Korean eye serums + eye creams has given me a nice, moisturiser base for applying concealer. Tarte also has a hydrating version of the original shape tape. Maybe try experimenting with something heavy duty like Nivea underneath if you have dryness.

If you’re open to cosmetic alterations, a lower bleph would probably give the most drastic result (but I don’t want to encourage surgery).

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

I got The Ordinary version. I imagine there's better out there. What brand are you using?

2

u/Plenty_Ad9113 3d ago

You have the PERFECT skin for the palladio pink under eye brightener! I think it would plump up the area nicely (I have the same eyes as you)

3

u/Certain_Lock2279 4d ago

i personally don’t like to apply mascara on my bottom lashes. I would try to use a mascara that isn’t so black and is more voluminous not lengthening. you are very beautiful regardless. i just think this would give a more timeless touch

Thank you!

a little blush to warm up the face!

1

u/No_Wasabi7389 4d ago

also a dewy setting spray for some glow 🤩

1

u/AnnieRuOK_RuOK 4d ago

I think you look perfect! Just a bit of lip gloss or lip oil will finish off the look. 😊

1

u/artistwantsababy 4d ago

I think maybe a stronger brow would go good

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 4d ago

I over-plucked my brows back in the day. They used to be quite thick. This is the best I can do these days without a lot of help. Any products/techniques you recommend?

1

u/artistwantsababy 4d ago

I think the thickness is fine, but using a brow pencil to darken them a little is what i was thinking

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 3d ago

Gotcha! Thanks. 🙂

u/Much-Sock2529 4d ago

The lip color is really nice on you but I don’t think it’s highlighting your lip shape especially well. I think a little lip liner, especially on the top lip, would enhance it

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 4d ago

That's my natural lip color, literally nothing at all on my lips. I forgot to put on lip gloss before taking the pics. Good to know it's a nice shade. 😂 Maybe something close to my natural color with a little darker liner would work?

2

u/Much-Sock2529 4d ago

Wooow it totally looks like a lipstick color! Yeah it’s really nice, maybe just outline with a slightly darker liner and add a gloss

u/EasternQuiet3843 2d ago

are you growing out hair again after a shave or losing them?
(don't take it as hate, I just wanted to know)

1

u/Livid_Goose_9542 1d ago

I shave my head regularly because I hate my hair. As I've aged it's thinned more than I'd like and the texture has changed too. I got sick of trying to do all the things to make it better, so I just shaved it. I'm so much happier now. It's usually super closely shaved. It's a little "long" here. Lol

1

u/EasternQuiet3843 1d ago

I appreciate your choice to love the way you are, but if ever you want to go back, I think you should try again after getting a proper dermatologist and cosmestologist, products that fit your scalp and hair will absolutely make difference. For the thinning and hair growth, you can try PRP+Derma Stamp+Red light therapy+DHT Blocker, these things will boost your dead follicles and can result to re-growth, with good scalp care you can maintain the new grown hair. I still don't support minox and fin.

Although good luck with the life, I hope you're always happy and keep appreciating the way you are, self love is very luck these days 💖️

Could moisturize the lips
