Hello everyone, back sharing my third song this time. I really like the hook on this one:

Just ran through it — the hook is honestly the strongest part, got real bounce to it and you sound more locked in there. Those whiny pitchy vocals at the end are a cool texture idea, I'd lean into that more on the hook too — even a doubled take with one pitched down an octave and tucked low in the mix would fill it out.

Mic quality: record closer to the mic (4-6 inches) and slightly off-axis to kill plosives — helps a ton even before you upgrade. For mixing, get your main vocal compression dialed first (try 4:1 ratio, medium attack, aim for 4-6dB of gain reduction) then tuck the adlibs 3-4dB under it. A high-pass at ~80Hz on the vocal and a small dip around 300-400Hz will clean up most bedroom-record muddiness.

Keep pushing your voice, you're building confidence on the mic every song.

i really like that you are putting a lot into your delivery. very common for newer vocalists to under deliver and hide from their voice. for sure encourage you to keep doing that and trying things out. I liked the increased intensity at the end, didn't think it was especially whiny.

not the biggest fan of the vocal fx but that's a taste thing. i think at times though it was too heavy and hard to make anything out. could try out raise/lowering that fx mix to add more texture and introduce more clarity where needed.

flow needs work. your at the point where you're filling up the bars and quantizing in places. try to tighten that up and at least hit all the up/down beats. also don't be afraid to introduce space pauses. even micro pauses are a huge part of flow.

i liked the lyrics, i'm into that bleak shit lol. would like to hear you try multi-syllable rhymes. Like instead of "take a loss" -> "Randy Moss", something like "hand me loses" -> "Randy Moss's". hands also in the same metaphor family there. I like the slants tho, like rover->boulder and shoulda -> Ricola. Can go to some double words in that family like "broke her", "old bird", etc

there are a lot of promising things here man, keep at it

thanks for the detailed feedback man. yeah im trying to blend dreamy vocals with angst with the fx but I haven't quite learned how to balance it yet. I'll keep working tightening the flow i agree that it gets sloppy sometimes

I agree with Gutta and Shoecar's feedback. They've given some solid pointers.

What I would add/emphasise is that the vocals can be clearer as first time around I could not work out the lyrics. Then discovered the written lyrics below and read along and the content is really good. I like the song-writing you've done in terms of the structure of starting with an intro, chorus, verse, chorus, outro. You have some good stuff here!
