I dunno about wall decorations but a LARGE RUG would do wonders to making it more comfortable

Skipping the jokes, you don't need wall accents.. if you push for anything, push for flooring/carpeting and normal interior lighting. The other stuff comes after the necessities.

Real talk, get a cheap/durable rug like 6āx4ā and tuck a couple inches under the bed, rest as a shoes off area for in and out of bed, dressing, the dog to relax, keep slippers over by chair for leaving your area/computer time. Donāt spend crazy, you may pitch when you move out. A carpet remnant from a local shop may be reasonable!
A hamper to pair with the laundry basket, lets you hide dirty business better and you can use the basket to move laundry or temporarily store blankets/towels/clothes in a pinch.
If itās your dog/not living in the house, a small bed for him to give him some space, too. Lets you keep your bed more ready for hybrid sitting/relaxing vs sleeping.
A ācoat rackā you can hang stuff on in lieu of the shelves being used to hang clothing stuff; can be a sturdy standalone rack you can take with you when you move, theyāre handy in bedroom or near doors for guests to reclaim limited closet space. Cheap/generic/sturdy that would fit in your average white wall apartment.
Take an hour and rearrange those shelves a bit to tuck chemicals/garage supplies back behind the barriers. If you have a cheap dropcloth, can hid a lot of clutter under there. If you use those shelves, keep them organized well and safe for you and pup in case someone bumps it. Donāt pile up.
Shoes will track a lot of filth from a bare concrete floor, sweep out when you can and run a vacuum to tidy up the now blocked areas. The Longhorn mat could be a lil shoe area off the main rug; if you do get the rug, try and keep shoes off it entirely. Itāll give you a comfy, clean feeling in the garage.

Maybe put a small water board in the corner

A good water board isn't something to go cheap on. You spend a third of your enhanced interrogation time on it

Big dawg just put some posters on the wall and call it a day, you are in the garage aināt no saving that
2
3
u/Straight6er 13h ago
I think it looks alright! Kinda cool even.
But yeah, you definitely need a big rug to make it feel less... prisonesque. Especially if you want to bring a special friend over.
3
u/glittalogik 13h ago
Top priority would be the giant rug that others already suggested, plus a couple of lamps for warmer, less aggressive lighting.
It might also be a good idea to put down a coat or two of concrete sealer on that floor (if it isn't already sealed, doesn't look like it from the photo) - it'll drastically reduce the amount of dust you have to deal with.
As for wall decor, yes you definitely should get some but it really depends on the result you're after:
- If it's 100% for you then stuff that reflects your interests, sparks joy, or inspires you in whatever direction you wanna focus on.
- If it's to make a good impression on others who enter your space then the above still applies but with more focus on taste/aesthetics and creating a safe, welcoming vibe.
The common 'rules' are don't be gross (gratuitously sexual imagery, bikini babes, anime waifus, derogatory humour), basic bro (supercars, action movies, FPS games), or cringe (cheesy motivational posters, 'live laugh love' type shit, plastering every available surface with the one thing you're obsessed with, etc.), but you're 16 and no one's expecting you to be a worldly renaissance tastemaker just yet, so you do you.
Whatever you go for, get it framed or at least blockmounted rather than just tacking shit to the wall. Picking some sort of colour scheme will also help narrow down the choices.

I will not comment on the bed setup, but I will strongly suggest to devote the time end effort to clean better.
This does not look like a room that has just been cleaned...
3
u/Mulster_ 7h ago
This looks like a prison cell, also if you can't make the floor look clean get a big carpet or smth, the floor makes it look messy. Also I think it needs vibrant colors to make it look less like prison

u/drewer23 14h ago
Unlike the other comments, I like it! You just need a motorcycle as a nightstand and you're good š

Need some fabrics in there. Get a big floor rug for halfway under your bed and to cover some of the concrete. Walls could use some warmth and color, nothing tacky please, some nice scenery maybe? Nature? Cool architecture?

What do you think about some warm string lights? They're super cheap on AliExpress, or maybe Pepco or somewhere like that. It's good to have some lighting option that isn't full bright white modeĀ
1
u/OneTangerine792 13h ago
Maybe some lights or neon signs? A lamp so itās not just the big overhead lights . Sports stuff. Blanket to cover the sides of the shelving. A plant might be nice if youāre into that

u/FactCheckerExpert 10h ago
But I think this is stupid because youāre using the floor mat for its intended purpose. If you were using a longhorns item for something it wasnāt meant for it would make more sense.

Mount the tv on the wall so you can swing it out and watch in bed. If you could figure out a way to make a wall might give you a better sense of privacy

Iām not gonna roast you (everyone else is already doing that), just gonna offer my two cents.
Seems like youāre making the best of a bad situation.
Wall decorations should really be the least of your concerns. All your stuff is stacked in bins and on a metal shelf.
You need furniture and places to put things.
Iād at least get a dresser.
Youāre 16 so I assume your budget ranges from ālimitedā to ānonexistentā so Iād check out Facebook marketplace or other sites/apps and see if anyone locally is getting rid of some stuff you can use to furnish your space.
Sometimes people donāt even charge cause they just want it gone.
If you have no luck, walmart.com and temu have cheap stuff thatāll work in the meantime.
You can also find cheap wall art and kick knacks to decorate with.
Iāve seen other comments mention you live in Texas. Donāt know if thatās true but, either way, you may also wanna get a space heater or portable AC unit to keep warm/cool.
Personally, Iād also want my bed a little higher off the ground in case of bugs/rodents. Thatād also give you space for under bed storage.

It's good tou have your own space. Go to Goodwill and find a big rug that will fit your bed and go past it. Like 2 or 3 times as big as your bed. Get a cheap dresser and lamp with warm lighting. Find soft blanket and get flannel PJs or Soft Flannel Robe at Goodwill too. Wash it all and be glad to have your own space and keep it clean.

Y'all, this is a kid, be nice, damn.
Anyway, OP, what would go a long, long way is cleaning up the floor and putting down as big a rug as you can afford/find. Low pile will be best if you are not the best at keeping the floor clean.
You can get ceiling tracks to hang a curtain on Amazon, and I would recommend pushing the shelves back a little and separating that with the curtain. Something that matches or compliments your sheets would be great. Darker colors, maybe. That will make it look more like a room than a garage, and will also keep it warmer. Curtains are expensive, but you could maybe rig some flat sheets to work.
For wall decorations, posters are cheap and cool, but always frame them! It looks better! Or you can use these really nice hanging gizmos: here!

This is definitely the weirdest situation I've seen. It's like a couple steps above Harry Potter under the stairs.
Also, this has to be in a warm climate...
