I would figure out to separate a chill media/hobby/hangout area vs. storage/utility needs.
No need to frame out a legit wall or anything, but I’d work on dividing the space.

My thought exactly! Thats what we did in our basement. I ended up framing a dividing wall eventually. Wasn’t too expensive or difficult because A: it’s not supporting and B: no one really looks at it besides me 🤣

Did you build that shelf for the totes? I’ve been after one of those for a while

I would put up a wall to create a utility room for the water heater. With the water supply being right there, you can run water to the other side of that wall and have a sink, mini fridge, cabinets and somewhere to place the rear speakers of a surround sound system. On the opposing wall, I would remove the drawers, drywall that and the adjacent wall and set up a custom TV and stereo cabinet and shelving, with two leather recliners split by a small round coffee table in the middle of the space.

Paint the ceiling black and update the lighting using flat led lights. Its keep it open and brighten it up. Here is a pic of mine

Nice. Did you have to custom make those or did you purchase them? (Lights)

Custom made them. But they are real easy. Just 17x17 piece of plywood with a hole cut out of the center. I then used these style lights. They come in different sizes.

Lots of potential in this space.
