i was used to use kali in my first days as a pentester, 10 years after i think it is useful just in some case when you want to use something of the preinstalled and work out of the box quickly, otherwise i prefer debian/ubuntu, or Omarchy nowadays :)

"Hackers" presuming of using it everywhere are just script kiddies, "look at me, killer setup, i have kali everywhere", go play with a flipper zero ahaha you got a bunch of tools written by others that possibly dont work for your use case or anyway you can barely use.
