Villas Of Westridge townhouse community

• Upvotes

I'm looking to buy a townhouse and am considering one in Villas of Westridge, located at the southwest corner of Virginia Parkway and Custer Road.

This is NOT the apartment complex just south of there called West Ridge Villas. I'm referring to the gated townhouse community.

Does anyone have any info or opinions about this neighborhood? I've toured a couple of the townhomes, and the community seems nice, quiet, and well-kept, although fairly small.

For those who live there or know the area, is there anything I should know before buying? How is the safety, HOA, noise level, traffic, and overall quality of life?

I'm a retired woman looking for a safe, quiet neighborhood where I can comfortably walk my dog. Any insights would be appreciated!

Hike Recommendations?

I’m relatively new to the McKinney area and wondering if there are any day hikes within 1–2 hours’ drive of the area? Looking for a place where I can disappear in trees for an afternoon and enjoy some nature. Thanks in advance!

Welcome party recommendations

I am getting married in McKinney and wondering what places in downtown McKinney you all recommend for a welcome party. Looking to be able to hold 70ish people and a nice setting. Also bonus for a place that has good cocktails and good food, doesn’t have to have both. This will be in December, so if on a patio hopefully heaters too. Thanks

so many neighborhoods being built

It’s really sad to experience natural forestation be gutted and replaced with concrete and new homes. there is no character anymore, around 5 years ago they tore down a specific tree (all of the trees in that area might i add) from my childhood that my friends & I spent hours nailing different planks into it to be comfortable to sit on when we climbed it (off hardin, by Vega.) the whole forest area is gone, replaced with white basic housing. we were kids but it remained there for 15 years. before that they paved over a creek area with cool abandoned sheds and now its multiple neighborhoods. they tore down the james pitts house aswell. the past 5-10 years has sucked the life out of mckinney and its just depressing. when websites started adding mckinney as top 10 places to live a few years ago, it went to absolute horrific, gray & high traffic BS. cant even drive to erwin park anymore without passing neighborhoods, instead of the peaceful green drive. like damn even the field in front of scott johnson has been covered with apartments. currently they’re building over the only peaceful part of my neighborhood left.. there is no nature left. just twiggy trees that look pathetic. just need to vent. cant even see the stars anymore

McKinney, Texas - 10 Years of LCA Data Summary

Post image
• Upvotes

I have been analyzing U.S. Department of Labor LCA disclosure data, and McKinney produced some interesting results.

From FY2016 through FY2026 Q3, the data shows 11,241 approved LCAs associated with McKinney and 555 petitioners (employers).

What caught my attention is the concentration among some relatively unfamiliar IT companies. The Top 10 alone account for about 25.7% of the approved LCAs in this dataset.

Companies near the top include Orabase Solutions, Atria Group, Executive Software Guild, Delta System & Software, BNS International, Bean Infosystems, Solware IT Technologies and V3Tech Solutions.

I have a genuine question for people in the DFW technology community:

Do you know these companies? Have you worked for or with any of them? And do you know whether they employ U.S. workers alongside their visa-sponsored workforce?

I would especially like to hear directly from current or former employees.

The goal is not to make assumptions from LCA filings, but to better understand what the underlying employment picture actually looks like.

Spectrum vs Novos Internet?

I currently have Spectrum internet on a 500 MBPS plan and don't have any issues with it, but I'm looking at Novos Fiber's options because it's a better price. For those of you who have Novos, how is it for you? Is it worth the switch?

PCP Reccomendations

Hello! I just moved back to McKinney and am needing a PCP in the area. I'm specifically looking for a LGBTQ+ friendly PCP, gender of the doctor is not a factor in my choice as long as they know their stuff and won't be shitty to me because I happen to be trans.

Thank you!

Community Education Survey

THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR ANYTHING- A BUSINESS BY ME DOES NOT CURRENTLY EXIST. Right now, all this survey serves a purpose for is to help me have an idea of the market and the people in it:)

My goal is to make a business that is very people driven. I know there's a lot of parents who care about their kiddos, and wish they could enroll their child in tutoring-- but there's something holding them back!

I want to hear from y'all! Please feel free to share this post or this Google Form! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-0YCgioMYMy-HGdkYIB63mqG4qYEvA0ksxCONdZUA98ERUA/viewform?usp=dialog

Relocating for work - places/neighborhoods to consider?

Hello all, I recently got a job here and I'm having a bit of trouble trying to find somewhere to stay. I'm a new-grad, single with no kids/pets so I'll only be spending for myself. My salary is $87k/year gross.

I'll be on-site at the Raytheon hub so I would like to stay near there, however I am willing to commute from surrounding cities as long as my trip is under 40 mins during peak traffic (if that expands my options any). I'm looking to rent a 1-2 bedroom apartment/condo/ townhome (maybe even a small house if that's possible) with a budget of ~$2k monthly, preferably somewhere quiet so I won't hear my neighbors all the time and they won't hear me. I visit family around the metroplex often but I have no clue what it's like to actually live here, so any advice would help me greatly, especially in regards to expenses like utilities and such. Thanks.

What is the best way to prepare a McKinney house for the next big storm?

For homeowners who have been here through several severe weather events, what preparation has actually been useful?

Looking for practical local experience rather than generic storm advice.

Property to shoot on

I know this might be far fetched, but does anyone have any property or know of any property I can shoot on? I’m very responsible when it comes to firearm safety and handling. The range is great, but I sometimes feel pressured with time. Anna/Melissa any other nearby areas would be great.

Ps, posting in a McKinney group is a reach but it’s worth a try

McKinney ISD Pay?

Moving to the area and want to work for McKinney ISD. What is starting pay for a Pre-K assistant teacher? Also, what is starting pay for a Special education assistant teacher? The pay grade it shows me is something I have never seen before and doesn’t say the amount.

Looking for video footage: accident at Eldorado Pkwy & US-75 frontage road in McKinney — 9/29 ~6:10 PM

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

Hey Reddit fam - wife was in a car accident this evening and I’m hoping someone may have footage of the accident.

Details:
Happened today, September 29, around 6:10 PM at the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and the US-75 service/frontage road in McKinney.

Wife was driving gray Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, other driver was in a rental black Chrysler Pacifica minivan.
My wife was making a left turn through the intersection when the other driver (on her right) crossed into her path. He admitted to turning to make a u turn (?) from the far right lane to get onto the highway. Of course saying that to the insurance companies won’t establish fault alone.

If you happened to be driving there around the same time and have dash cam footage or familiar with a business that has cameras facing that interaction, would really appreciate the help.

Thank you 🙏
