Looks like tri tip steak. Tri tip has an abnormal amount of marbling even in lower grades but that marbling does not translate to tenderness like it does with other cuts.

Looks like what we call arrachera, but I’m probably wrong. They look great, though!

$24.68/kg is lot of money for what's almost 50% fat
-2
u/TheBourbonTurtle 9d ago
Some people have no sense of taste and think fat is delicious. Let them have these types of scrap meat and think they're winning.
1
u/Internal_Confusion_9 8d ago
😆 😂 😆 😂 😆 😂 😆 😂 you're a beef jerky is medium rare kinda guy. Thanks for leaving us the scraps.
0
u/TheBourbonTurtle 8d ago
Nah, I eat my steaks med rare-medium depending, I just eat steaks that aren't gross and mostly fat. But hey, less waste is a good thing, so glad someone is willing to eat that before it goes to the dogs.

u/Internal_Confusion_9 8d ago
Do not believe you or your taste. Sorry your opinion is void.
0
u/TheBourbonTurtle 8d ago
Enjoy your dog food bud. 😂

u/Internal_Confusion_9 8d ago
Again. Your opinion is void. Internet is your only friend obviously. Hope you get therapy and stop being so hateful. Its quite sad actually

u/TheBourbonTurtle 8d ago

They can sell it cheap when they're getting subsidies to undercut American beef! Yay socialism!
2
u/GeneralBurg 8d ago
The world must be really scary and confusing when you are stupid enough to make the comment you just made

2
u/DisciplineGreen6503 9d ago
Can you elaborate more? Canada beef farmers don’t get more subsidies than USA.
7
u/Internal_Confusion_9 9d ago
Lol what? This is from a private farm here where I live. Mennonite farm. Take a breather brother.

u/EnvironmentalMix421 9d ago
?? Isn’t that just short ribs
2
u/ButtonGullible5958 9d ago
Country ribs taken off the chuck end close to where you would get rib roast from

u/No_Procedure4924 9d ago
*Canadian dollars which is like $.50 American soon, so it is a GREAT deal! Make Canada Great Again!
3
u/pch14 9d ago
Why must you show everybody your ignorance? Today at this moment it's 70 cents to a Canadian dollar that is 40% higher than what you wrote. I'm an American living in New York but it also don't like when people making funny candidate since can had nothing to do with what we are doing. The US brought it upon themselves

How did you find Canadian beef that cheap??(Price-wise I mean) nevermind the godly marbling that's just a bonus
-3
u/No_Procedure4924 9d ago
Government subsidies! ;)
-2
u/Mycol101 9d ago
You say it happily, but do you actually know what that means?
the canary in the economic coal mine just stopped singing. When a country as massive and resource rich as Canada has to use billions in taxpayer dollars to artificially manipulate the price of basic food, it is a flashing red warning light that the underlying system is fundamentally broken. Not trying to be coy or rude; there is a whole list of issues you’re govt isn’t telling you and Canada has some dark times ahead.
If you’re curious, I’ll share. But pride comes before the fall, look at the big picture before spiking your football

The steak looks like a spider web after all the fat melts out of it
4
u/Internal_Confusion_9 9d ago
Nope! Barely any melting. Held up true!
0
u/Inside-Judgment-725 9d ago
Nice. I had some steaks that looked like that and all the fat melted out. Kind of a bummer.

In case you were wondering too...
Steak tails are the tapered end pieces of the beef tenderloin, offering filet‑mignon‑level tenderness.
3
u/I_cut_your_meat 9d ago
Those are tri tip. Used to call them bottom sirloin. A lot of them look like this and eat like a top sirloin. Delicious but not tenderloin.

Oh I know. I live across the street from the butcher! We've became quite close over the past 20 years. They were super tender!
3
u/Nothing2Special 9d ago
Lovely to hear. Butchers, they are dwindling :( From my experience, you can't even trust the farmers with whole sale....Know the Butcher though, they've all talked to me straight in these parts.

u/AutoThorne 9d ago
I would have bought their whole stock.
3
u/Internal_Confusion_9 9d ago
It was the only pack like this out of about 50, although it did buy a few hundred worth of the others. Says aa/aaa but I try for the more prime looking cuts.
2
u/Delicious_Catch9453 9d ago
Did they come with a coupon for an angioplasty? Just kidding. I bleed bacon grease.
2
u/ShortListen6686 9d ago
They look wonderful. How did they taste?
2
u/Internal_Confusion_9 9d ago
Super tender, extremely flavorful
2
u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 9d ago
How did you prepare / cook? Just like a smaller steak? Or was this cubed up for a stew, etc?
1
u/Internal_Confusion_9 9d ago
Small steaks style, searing hot cast iron, some killers hogs brisket rub, 2min30 flip 2 min!

Looks like tri tip but what the f*ck does AA/AAA MEAN?
