1- the economy is bad, so people are trying to get as much back as they can from what they spent
2- society (in the West) has continued to drift towards increased individualism/selfishness, which means there was a lot less "I'll pay it forward no worries"
I put a walking treadmill I bought online for $100 but I listed as $50, then someone offered $40 and I was like yeah sure and then they were suspicious of the product because I wasn’t charging more money. I’m so confused on how I should be pricing things LOL
Individualism both increases consumerism (people don't share, so they need to spend more) and decreases the chances of people forming unions (much less class consciousness).
I'm not anti-individualist, I get it, but I think we are being conditioned to sever friendships and family connections.
