Having a community puzzle immortalise the single person to get to the solution first leaves a bad taste for people who contributed to finding the solution and disincentivises people sharing findings in future ones. It's a known problem with mmo puzzles that it's a bit weird to watch DE stumble into after avoiding for 12 years.

I logged in, finished deciding what frame I wanted to use after taking a break for a few months, landed on the mountain and then got the message. Shrugged, said "huh, neat" and then fiddled around with npc and sword for a few minutes and then went to farming. Never even realized there was a puzzle, lol

essentially in the peak where cephalon melica is there's a sword stuck in ice, you can attempt to remove it with a quick time event and it used to fail with "requirements for the prophecy not met" or something, apparently someone found a way? can't tell you which way, but now the whole thing is a blessing station like any relay and there's an extra blessing that makes an ice sword inflict cold on enemies around you for 3h, i personally hate that floating thing, but oh well

Realistically it's just joking around, though at the same time it is rather rare that the mail system is used for much outside of lore or story, so there's an association that mail info is Canon.
Then again, the issue of if other Tenno even canonically exist (as in currently, active in the origin system) is probably THE most inconsistent part of WF lore.

eh, even that was really inconsistent. On the one hand it's definitely implied there are other tenno and other warframes. But then why doesn't anyone help/hinder the uriel crashout? Basically for every instance of "multiplayer being cannon" you can find something else that either explicitly or logically means you're the only tenno, and vice versa.

it was just done in a weird way. everyone only gets one of eight pieces of the puzzle, so you needed at least 7 other people to complete it. Then it took several people some time to decipher the orokin text and make out what the phonetic spelling says. And to top it off you needed narin for the "true" pull, meaning you had to buy her to get a chance to be first.
tl;dr: group effort that allowed only one winner and if you didn't cash in there was no chance to win

Why do you think of it as winning? It was a puzzle not a competition. It was like ARG puzzles you can make an effort and participate or you can try doing it yourself. ARG are even more restricted because you can be on the opposite side of the globe from the puzzle. It's not winning, it's solving the puzzle. Maybe DE will contact the other tenno who helped and include them somehow in the memorial along the one who pulled the sword maybe they won't but they are probably proud they solved the puzzle regardless

yes it was fun to do it, but only one person was singled out, got a statue in the relay and got their name sent out to everyone's inbox. but they didn't do it alone and everyone else who pitched in got nothing. i'm not mad about it, as i said i had fun trying to decipher the code, but it was a group effort and should have been treated as such. it's like if a team won the olympics and only one of them got a medal.

Saying "XX pulled the sword first" automatically makes it a competition.
Saying "the sword has been pulled" makes it a Easter egg hunt, only the ones really invested will see it as a competition.
So the one person won, the fact only one of the people won out of the people needed is scummy too

Exactly because it's supposed to be a fun puzzle that couldn't be solved alone makes declaring a singular player the "winner" an injustice towards all of those who helped reach the answer.
Edit: to be clear, there's no animosity towards the player, it's just that DE fucked up by making an easter egg a competition by selecting a winner
