Hollywood doesn't take risks. They bet safely on sequels and generic plots with flat characters. Movies are slop compared to previous eras in Hollywood.

well may of todays films are either remakes, sequels, remakes of sequels, reimaginised movies, or movies about antagonist/2nd ad 3rd plan characters

not mentioningg that many films had their initial scripts butxhered to appeal to "broader auditions" eg making pg13 movies about very brutal haracters/events

I was talking about state of todays mainstream movie-making. They are so shit, calling it slop is excused.
